Dear Harry Potter,
I literally cannot even begin to fathom where to start with all the impact you have made on my life, but I’m certainly going to try.
Thank you so much for everything that you have given. The laughs, the tears, the friendships, but most importantly, the lessons. It’s Levi-O-sa, not Levi-o-SA! Thankfully we got our priorities straight on that one.
Your sarcastic humor was never lost on me, I appreciated every bit of it. From when you lived at the horrendous Dursley’s to when you were casually mentioning how He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was currently trying to end your life, you never swayed. No matter how grim the situation was, if you could somehow find a way to put some patches of light through the dark every now and then, things wouldn't always seem so bad. “Happiness can always be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
Thank you for teaching us the value of friendships and how special they truly are. The strong support of friends saves your life, whether it’s physically or emotionally. You’ve shown us that friendships can come in many styles, but as long as they are loyal, compassionate and have a good heart, they are keepers.
You have shown us that there will always be evil in the world in many forms, but to never let it dull our courage. In the wise words of Albus Dumbledore, “We are as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” In other words, stick together, have faith in each other, and you can stand against anything.
You have taught that courage and bravery come in many different sizes and shapes. It’s hard to stand up to enemies, but even harder to stand up to friends. Courage and bravery can be found in all people, both Gryffindor and non-Gryffindor alike. It’s not always so easy to be brave, but you showed us that it’s definitely possible, no matter the circumstances.
We’ve learned what it is to grieve with you, to lose family and friends. Death is an inevitable part of life and it’s something we have all or will be going through and have felt to the core. There were tears and heartbreak, but as Sirius showed us, those who are no longer with here live within us.
And for all the adventures we’ve gone on together, those six years at Hogwarts, the Quidditch World Cup, our second family at the Burrow and all those little wonderful moments in between, thank you.
But, lastly, we thank Harry’s most precious friend, J.K. Rowling herself, for introducing us to little Harry all those years ago, and for not just changing lives, but shaping them.
Sincerely,
A Potterhead until the very end.
