For years, I have watched the videos of the Game Theorists. To say that I have learned something is an understatement.

Whether you were taking me through the Angry Video Game Nerd’s mental and physical disorders or why video games may be anti-LGBTQ+, I listened. And why did I listen? Because I, like you and the many other theorists out there, am a gamer. There is nothing we love more than to be able to link science, economics and culture to our games.

This is a thank you to MatPat and the Game Theorists channel. A thank you because you taught me so much that I can talk about with my other gamer friends. Thank you for allowing me to continue to be known as the “guy who knows a bunch of random stuff.” Thank you for allowing me to relive some of my favorite gaming moments, but more importantly, thank you for introducing me to new games.

Being a college student, I am not able to keep up with the gaming franchise. This is for one reason. I am broke. But with your videos and knowledge, I am not only able to stay informed, but I am able to see where the industry is going.

The hardest thing for me when coming to college was not assimilating. It was the realization that I may not have been able to game as much as I have in the past.

For those of you who do not know, I grew up as a gamer. It was my life. My friends were all gamers. All of them. We always talked about games and what the developers could have been thinking. Over time though, I drifted away from them, and with that, I drifted away from video games. But discovering your channel brought all of that back. In the first day, I watched about three videos. A week later, I had gotten nothing done and had finished all the videos.

I now keep up with the channel daily, and I have also tried to get others to watch the channel. Whether someone is a die-hard gamer, like myself, or a newcomer, the Game Theorists have something for them. This is easily seen looking at the subscribers. Six million people are influenced and entertained by your channel.

I am sure my story is one of many. Watching your channel grow as you continue to open up to us has been an amazing couple of years. You showed us your wedding, introduced us to your wife and friends, and even showed us how you make the show. As I am writing this, I am watching your video on Donkey Kong and the Banana Wars. Even all those years ago, you could still tell how much thought, analysis, and explanation you put into these videos, and we thank you for this.

MatPat and the Game Theorists, please continue to make these videos. They have done so much for the six million of us and I personally cannot wait to see what else you do for us. Thank you for all the knowledge, analysis, and lessons you have given us. It means more to us than you will ever know.
