If any of you have watched "Private Practice," you have heard Sam Bennett give the definition of an "anyway friend" and what he said was, "An anyway friend is the one person in your life, who no matter what they say or do, no matter what they have been through with you, they will love you anyway." There is that one unique friendship, where both of you have been through hell and back together and because of that, a friendship was created that is very special.
It is the type of friendship that maybe you do not talk to them very often, but catching up feels just like a normal conversation with someone you talk to every day and they are that person that you could call during a mental breakdown and they know exactly what to say. You do not talk everyday, but somehow you know about every aspect of their life, what makes them tick, what makes them as excited as a little kid, you just get them and they get you. It is an easy friendship, it does not require anything extravagant or crazy, it just requires you to be your genuine self, with all your crazy and weird thoughts that you think should not be told to any other human being. Maybe if you are lucky, you have a couple "anyway friends" in your life that would do anything for you and you would do anything for them.
I think one of the most important aspects of this friendship is no matter what you say to each other, the things you have been through, the sides of this person you have seen, you still love them. They are kind of like family because you tell them things that not everyone knows about, and they embrace your quirks and the friendship becomes stronger because of it. There is a high chance that they were a part of the roller coaster you've been on, because you depend on them so much. They are the person that will tell you that you are an idiot for thinking you are not good enough for a boy, that you can call each other ugly but know you are just joking and in reality you know they are gorgeous, and they are the person that you will have crazy, insane, deep conversations with one minute and then start talking about how cute puppies are the next. Sometimes this type of friendship is kind of indescribable to some people because they do not understand how you two are friends, you are so different from each other but it works. You know that they will be in your life forever, because you simply cannot live without them no matter how hard you try.
To my "anyway friend," thank you for being someone I can rely on through thick and thin. Thank you for showing me that even though life is a crazy journey, that it takes people like you to get through it. Here's to a friendship that will last forever, xoxo.
