Thanksgiving Is Over, Which Means You Can Finally Listen To Christmas Music...Except For These 7 Songs
Cooper Watt

Unless you are one of those crazy Christmas starts after Halloween people, it is now socially acceptable to blast Christmas music. However, for every Frank Sinatra rendition of "Jingle Bells" or N'Synch Christmas album, there are terrible songs to match them. Here is a definitive guide of seven songs to never play this holiday season.

1. "Baby It's Cold Outside"

Baby, it's cold outside, but it sure feels like date rape on the inside. This song is very creepy before she even says "what's in this drink?" Give it a good listen and realize why you should skip this duet when you are putting together your playlist.

2. "Last Christmas" by Wham

I'm sorry, but some popular songs just suck. The last thing I want to hear about when I'm decorating my tree is some Christmas heartache. There is no need for breakup music at Christmas time, especially a song as annoying as this one.

3. "The Christmas Song" by Justin Bieber

Listen, if you want to bump "Mistletoe" you can go right ahead, but do not play Bieber's rendition of "The Christmas Song" at your holiday party. Some carols are owned by one person, and this song belongs to Nat King Cole. I don't even listen to the Buble version of this, let alone the one from the Biebs.

4. "Santa Baby" by Ariana Grande

Get your weird, thirsty Santa fantasies out of my nice and innocent holiday spirit. I really don't need to hear any version of this song but Ariana Grande whining to "Santa Honey" about wanting a yacht particularly grinds my gears. There's plenty of other classics to pick over this dreck.

5. "Christmas Tree" by Lady Gaga

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga said screw the semblance of subtlety in "Santa Baby" and released this disaster. She manages to ruin a couple of different classics with the beat and tops it off by referring to what makes her a woman as her "Christmas Tree." It's a shame she and Bradley Cooper didn't record a Christmas song in "A Star is Born" to replace this crap.

6. "The Christmas Shoes" by NewSong

Excuse me while I cry in front of my Christmas tree as I hear about this little boy trying to get his dying mother a pair of shoes for Christmas so she can look good if she meets Jesus that night. Alexa, please skip and play "Sleigh Ride" by the Ronettes. Ahhhhh, much better vibes.

7. "Deck the Halls" by Jake Paul

This song goes, "Deck the tree with yellow diamonds. Bling bling bling bling blaow ba bling blaow burrh." Enough said.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
