"Adulting" is one of those pop culture terms that you will most likely hear millennials use to refer to doing anything an "adult" would do. I decided to put this to the test and see what actual people think of the term and what it means since there is really no real definition to the word adulting.
One thing I discovered after asking around what this term means to several people, something everyone's answer had in common was that it has to do with growing up. It is also about learning the responsibilities that come along with the transition into adulthood. This could mean living away from parents or on your own for the first time. Learning to cook and clean without being able to depend on anyone else. Learning the value of managing time if you are attending school, have a job and a social life. I guess you can put "adulting" as a way of becoming independent. It is that new sense of freedom that comes with growing up and depending on yourself to be responsible for your actions.
I decided to see if I could find a definition for the term online. My favorite was that according to time.com, one definition to adulting is, "to make someone behave like an adult." I have to say that "adulting" is just another word us millennials decided to create as a way to express a new independence from our guardians and the maybe struggle into adulthood.
