10 Things You've Said If You Lived In A Dorm Hall

At a certain point, neighbors and hall members become so much more like a family.

10 Things You've Said If You Lived In A Dorm Hall
Olivia Lumpkin

As a freshman and never having lived with someone in the same room before this August; I've learned a lot about myself just by the dorm hall I was put in... Here are a few things, if you're anything like me, that you have said at least once while living in your dorm.

1) Who's on duty tonight?

We all have that one RA that we really cling to and just connect with. This means that on specific nights out of the week; instead of doing homework or chilling in your dorm, you go to the lobby to spend your time. This could include a movie or dance party... It's whatever you and your RA pal are feeling that night.

2) Do you want to take a shower at the same time so we can jam to music while we're in there?

This is a must if you have community bathrooms. I made the majority of my friends in the bathroom throughout the semester just brushing my teeth in the morning or washing my face at night. I can honestly say it's one of the major perks of living in a dorm hall. It helps that you and your pals get to have concerts while showering.

3) Is there a washer or dryer open?

We all know the struggle of keeping up with our dirty laundry. It becomes even more of a chore when there are 60 girls in a building and only two washers and two dryers. #hectic

4) How did you get all of your decorations to stick to the wall?

Gorilla or super glue most likely.

5) You can sleep on my carpet. It's pretty comfy.

If you have a friend spending the night; the carpet will be their bed so make sure it's a comfy one. Your XL twin bed can barely fit one person on it.

6) Can I borrow ________?

The best part about living with a bunch of girls on one hall is that you can ask anyone for anything and they most likely have it. (finger nail clippers, deodorant, printer paper, razors, etc...)

7) Can I use your printer?

We all know where the printers are on our floor. Don't lie.

8) What do you have to eat in your room?

The struggle of having absolutely no kitchen is real sometimes. And it usually occurs after curfew.

9) Can y'all please be quiet? It's like two in the morning...

When you have to get up at 7 AM and people are still screaming at 2 AM; the thin walls become a bit annoying.

10) I love you.

At a certain point, neighbors and hall members become so much more like a family. Everyone knows everyone and you honestly couldn't imagine not having them there all the time to scream and laugh all hours of the night. When curfew checks become a "sweet dreams and have a great day tomorrow" and leaving a friends room to go to bed saying, "goodnight, love you guys" you realize that there is nowhere else you would rather be living.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
