All these movies gave us so many relationships to look forward to in the future and they all hit us so much in the feels that we could be 90 years old and forcing our grandchildren to watch them with us.
10 things I hate about you
Patrick Verona. That’s all I need to say. He was a bad boy that turned good that we all loved. Of course it was shitty how he dated Kat for money, but at the same time, he made up for it at the end! The way he got her favorite band to play at her Prom was amazing. He did screw it up after that part, but made it up with the guitar. The way that Kat and Patrick ended up together was a love story for the books.
She’s the Man
Amanda Bynes, damn does she have her way of talking to guys. I don’t know about you, but I’m the type of girl who watches a movie and gets embarrassed for the character as they get embarrassed in the movie. I share their emotions and damn was I embarrassed when Duke found out Viola was a girl instead of his supposed roommate. That entire movie was such a nail biter and not in the when is something scary going to happen, but when is Viola going to make a food out of herself again. I got to admit though, it is one of my favorite movies and I would trade seeing Channing Tatum shirtless for anything.
Clueless
We were all especially hit in the feels with this movie because when Josh and Cher end up getting together, I mean when Cher realizes she loves Josh, the fountain behind her lights up and gets all Heavenly. It was fate! The wedding scene at the end was of course adorable too because everyone is then together with who they should be with, Josh and Cher, Tai and Travis and Dionne and Murray. It was just perfect because everyone got who they wanted and they lived happily ever after. But I mean can we all agree that Josh made Cher a better person? She wasn’t a bad person, but just a bit selfish and stuck up and dating Josh made her realize that he is more important than her. That is the kind of ending that broke our hearts, but then repaired them moments after.
A Cinderella Story
We can all agree that even if you were a boy and if you watched this movie, you wanted a boyfriend like Austin Ames. We also can all agree that it pissed us off so much when he didn’t recognize Sam’s face without the mask on it, I mean yes masks are supposed to shield your identity, but her mask was only covering up partially her face. I mean her hair was bright blonde, she was a bit of a shorty and she was a sweet girl. When he talked to her in the diner, he should have figured it out right then and there. We were all pissed until the end when he made that move by running off the field and going to kiss her. It was a great ironic moment because Sam told him she couldn’t wait for him because it was like waiting for rain in the drought and then as soon as he kisses her rain falls down! How much more romantic can it get? Towards the end of the movie though we were all so proud of Sam because she got out of her house and her toxic family and moved in with Rhonda. It was her dream life that she didn’t even know she wanted. I’m happy everything worked out for her.
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
This movie has love in it, but I want to focus on the friendships in it. All four girl’s relationship’s with each other is what makes other people believe in long distance relationship’s are friendship in general. The way all the girls stayed in contact and supported each other through everything was astonishing. Relationships in general should be like that, but sometimes they aren’t. I have to admit though, some of the time they did fall short and weren’t there for each other, but they all knew that no matter what they were all there for each other and they knew how much each of them meant to one another.
17 Again
Zac Efron in this movie just made me genially happy. I mean who can pretend to be a dad in a teenager’s body? I give him props. Although he did make me happy, he also made me laugh. I mean Matthew Perry is a funny guy and having to act like him then having to act like a character takes hard work. The beginning of the movie was rough due to the Mom and Dad’s relationship, but by the end, the young Mike O’Donnell gave us so many life lessons because of his new found situation, that it was a good recovery. A young Zac Efron though makes a lot of girl’s heart’s melt so there’s that as well.
What A Girl Wants
Some kids have daddy issues in their family and with this movie, a lot of people in those situations related to it. The way Daphne loved the father that was never around and the way she hopped across the pond to find him and develop a relationship with him was inspiring. I call that determination and longing in the best sense. It was great because the way’s Daphne matured throughout the movie was awesome. She learned so many new things, about society and about herself. I think this movie teaches the lesson of love who you are and always be yourself.
The Princess Diaries
Mia Thermopolis is all of us girls in a nutshell. Between her struggles daily with her hair or just trying to act like a lady and being clumsy. We all loved her though. They way she struggled with herself and then found her place in the world. We all rooted for her and we were all equally as excited when the second movie came out.
Mean Girls
Cadey Haren gave us all some mixed feelings, I mean I know she gave me some. At the beginning I liked her, but towards the middle at beginning of the end, I didn’t like her anymore. She just got too involved in the Plastic’s “world” that she lost sight of what really matters, her relationship with her parents, her first friends she made at her new school, and just herself in general. At the end she came back and apologized for making us hate her and we loved her again. Her and Aaron Samuels will always be in our hearts. And so will the date October 3rd.
Aquamarine
Let me just start off by saying the ending of this movie was such a tear jerker, nothing too sad, but not a happily ever after. Claire and Hailey ended up not being able to stay together due to Hailey’s mother needing to leave for work, but they did save Aquamarine from a fate she didn’t want. It was a tear jerker because Aqua, Claire, and Hailey made Aqua’s dad believe in true love. It may not have been the romantic true love that Aqua was hoping for, but it was the friendship true love, the kind that doesn’t waver and break and will always be strong. It gave us movie watchers a great ending with still wanting more. It allowed us to realize that not all fairy tales are based on a Happily Ever After and that we don’t need true love right away when we have friendship.
These movies will never stray away from being mine and many other people’s all time favorites. No matter how many times you watch them, even if you know the ending by heart, you will still love them even more and more when you watch them. Each of these movies teaches us a life lesson, and I can’t wait to find a new one the next time I watch one of these.
