Ten Little Things We Should Stop Taking For Granted Once The Quarantine Ends

It is no secret that COVID-19 has drastically altered the world. We have all had to get creative with how we connect with one another; Zoom meetings, restaurant drive-throughs, live stream church services, and so much more. Like most people, I am social distancing and avidly awaiting the decline in new virus cases and the end of quarantine.

Here is a list of ten things of some of the simple things that I miss the most.

1. Hugging Loved Ones

As someone whose top love-language is physical touch, this one has been particularly difficult to give up. I cannot wait to squeeze my friends again soon!

2. Coffee Shop Dates

Whether it is a quiet afternoon studying alone, or an afternoon catching up with friends, coffee shops have a unique magic to them. Of course, delicious food and drinks as well.

3. Going to Restaurants

Drive-through windows are starting to get a little old.

4. Photoshoots

Serious or not, it is always a fun idea to take photos with of or friends, especially when they have a creative eye!

5. Concerts

Many artists have had their tours postponed, so may we never again forget the feeling of hearing live music once this ends.

6. Summer Jobs (and working in general)

This one is huge. If the virus allows us to work our summer jobs, it will be extremely beneficial for high schoolers and college students. With everyone who is either on furlough or was laid off, we as a world will hopefully learn not to complain about our jobs once we go back.

7. Thrift Stores

Ah yes, thrift stores, where the imagination and wallet can run wild. Also, I actually did find an excuse to wear this shirt in public!

8. Sporting Events

I was not much of a sports fan before I came to an SEC university. It was not until this past September that I discovered the joy of a Saturday spent cheering on MSU in Davis-Wade Stadium. So please Coronavirus, do not take our sports away.

9. Parties

With a small group of people or a large party, gathering people together for a good time is something that is definitely missed among this pandemic.

10. Car Rides With Friends

This is something that I never thought I would miss. Blaring music with the windows down with your best friends is too fun!

I got really nostalgic while writing this today. May we as a nation, and a world, leave this pandemic with a greater appreciation of each other and the little things.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
