1. Thou shall not sleep. If there's one thing recruitment teaches us, it's how well our bodies can adapt to running on a couple hours of sleep. Recruitment is a rewarding but tiring process for everyone involved. From having to wake up at the crack of dawn to the voting process that lasts well past midnight, there's not much time for sleep.
2. Thou shall lose thy voice. The singing, the chanting, the conversations... It's all self-explanatory.
3. Thou shall get blisters. Whether it's from running errands for your recruitment chair or those uncomfortable wedges you've had to stand in all day while talking to PNMS, you're bound to get blisters. There's nothing more rewarding than when the last round leaves and you get to take off your shoes.
4. Thou shall cry during preference round. It's the last day of recruitment and you're running on minimal hours of sleep and emotions are high. Whether it's a song near and dear to your chapter's heart or heartfelt stories shared from sisters throughout their time in the chapter... preference round will inevitably shed emotions.
5. Thou shall Facebook stalk excessively. During recruitment, you're bound to form bonds with PNMs, leading to rush crushes. Since you can't talk to them outside of the recruitment room, Facebook trolling will have to suffice.
6. Thou shall starve. You will spend hours in a room with barely enough time to use the bathroom, let alone eat. Nothing is more rewarding than that hour between the last round and voting when you get to indulge in your fast food guilty pleasure.
7. Thou shall encounter an awkward situation. Whether it's forgetting a PNM's name or having to diverge a conversation that is heading into the wrong direction, (partying, fraternities, etc.) you're bound to encounter an uncomfortable situation.
8. Thou shall get the wrath of thy Recruitment chair. Stress levels are high and it shows. Having to corral and direct 80 girls is not an easy task and at some point during this week, the recruitment chair will break down.
9. Thou shall take lots of pictures. You will more than likely be required to arrive to recruitment multiple hours before the first round to help set up the room and practice. This will never take the ample amount of time given, which leaves room for one thing: pictures. You will come out with more pictures during that week than you have accumulated the entire year.
10. Thou shall survive and conquer. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing your newest pledge class run to your chapter on bid day. Seeing your rush crush and getting to share your sisterhood with them makes the trials and tribulations of the week completely worth it.
