I used to be such a television show addict. At least, until my old T.V. died and I had it replaced. After going three months without one, I lost the urge to watch every night. It also curbed my desire to binge watch, which I can blame Netflix for reawakening. I also realize that I am probably going to give away clues about my age when I finish this article, but I honestly do not care. I have compiled a list of the eight shows I miss the most on television, and while I may have some of them on DVD, or they are on Amazon Video or Netflix, there is nothing like having a show to watch each week, not knowing what was going to happen next. And the joy of cliffhangers.

1. Burn Notice

When the show started, I was unsure exactly what it would be like, other than a spy show. It turned out to be rather interesting. See, you have this guy, Michael Weston, who used to be a spy. The entire show is about him trying to find out who burned him so he can get back into the spy business while helping out people with his best friend and lover. There are lots of twists and turns in the plot, and I was sad to see it end but also, unhappy with the way it ended.

2. Charmed

Three sisters, unaware that they are witches, clean out their grandmother's house, the house they grew up in, and accidentally unlock their Book of Shadows and their powers. The first three sisters, Prudence. Piper and Phoebe spend several seasons fighting demons and warlocks while trying to have a healthy life. Pru gets killed and is replaced with a surprise half-sister, Paige.

3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I will be the first to tell you, I have seen and proudly own all seven seasons of this show on DVD. I know almost everything there is to know, and I've been the ranked #1 in my state on a trivia game for my knowledge of this show. Buffy was initially a movie, but the show starts us off with a seventeen-year-old Buffy who recently moved from Los Angeles to Sunnydale California. She doesn't want to be a slayer anymore, but destiny always gets what it wants. With an unconventional life and her soon to warm up stodgy British Watcher, Buffy grows into a strong woman with friends. She faces heartache and heartbreak more times than most people, and it doesn't turn her into a horrible person. However, having to thwart the apocalypse every year makes her life a little bit more than impressive. I loved this show because it was one of the few at the time with a strong female lead that didn't need to be rescued by a stronger guy. She could stand on her own, despite the odds.

4. Roswell

I also own all three seasons on DVD. I wish it would have gone longer than that. The premise is that a group of human-alien hybrids are stuck on earth. In the pilot episode, their secret is revealed when Max Evans heals his longtime crush, Liz Parker. See Max Evans and his sister Isabel, and their friend Michael Guerin are the aliens. They know what they are, but they've managed to make it all through high school without revealing it. Everything changes when Max saves Liz. The group learns their history, about Max being their former king, and navigates the rough waters of letting people into their lives and fighting for their survival.

5. Firefly

Who doesn't love a show about Space Pirates? That is essentially what Firefly is. Another masterwork from Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doll House). Firefly lasted only one season but did spawn a movie that ended much of the questions. I own both and proudly so. See, Firefly is the name of the ship, captained by one Malcolm Reynolds and his First Officer, Zoe Washburne. Both are former Browncoats in the battle of independence from the Alliance. Their pilot is Hoban Washburne, Zoe's husband. Their muscle is Jayne Cobb a mercenary basically. They travel from place to place doing crime and getting paid, under the table of course. They aren't bad people, just people trying to make a living and not fall under the

6. Witchblade

Witchblade was only on television for one season. It is also an anime I believe, but that differs from the show. In the show that used to be on TNT, Yancy Butler stars as Sara Pezzini a New York City Detective who suddenly finds herself in possession of the Witchblade. This ancient weapon seems to have been handed down of sorts through her ancestors. Each of these Blade wielders had the power of the Witchblade for a limited time before it abandoned them to their fate. The other thing they had was their former lover and protector. In this incarnation, his name is Ian Nottingham. Together they must thwart evil and uncover the secrets of the blade.

7. Legends of the Hidden Temple

So I love game shows. Especially shows from the 80's and 90's that was on Nickelodeon. In fact, I was watching Legends of the Hidden Temple on Nickelodeon GAS when my old television died. In this show you had teams of boys and girls compete for four spots within the actual game. Those four teams would then take on physical challenges and work it until it was one team left. That team wanted to get the temple tokens so that when they went into the Hidden Temple, the guards would let them go. That was what the passes were for. The final team would have two chances to get into the temple, find the hidden treasure and solve puzzles and then get out before the time was up to win. I have a tee shirt in honor of the game. Go team Blue Barracudas!

8. Double Dare

Dobule dare is another game show I used to love to watch. You would have teams that would compete in trivia and physical challenges for prizes and cash. It was called double dare because if you didn't know the answer or if you thought the opposing team didn't know you could dare them into answering or taking the physical challenge. However, they could double dare you back and then your team would be forced to either answer or participate in the challenge. It was fun to see what would happen and who would win.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
