You say we're a team, but are we really?
When on most days –
Up close or at a distance –
We're all at each other's throat –
And then go about the rest of our day as if nothing happened, case closed –
Or at least until it's recycled for another day?
When our other members go on doing the things they want,
Rather than doing the things we need,
For the sake of our "team"?
When we continue to make ourselves heard,
To get things done "our" way,
Rather than listen to what the others have to say –
Or at least what I have to say?
When these secrets –
Ancient secrets –
Tucked away carefully, shielded from the rest of the world –
Would one day be unburied and unleashed onto the rest of us,
And instead of forgiving these sins and leaving them in the past,
We assign blame and relive the pain?
Because that's what we keep doing to ourselves, with no chance to recover –
Again and again and again.
You say we're a team, but we're not.
We're family.
And after all that we've been through –
All that you've been through –
You should know:
This family deserves better.
