Taylor Swift Is A Lyrical Genius, And Here Are 20 Lyrics From folklore That Prove It

Unless you have been living under a rock, you probably know Taylor Swift dropped her eighth studio album, folklore, last Friday. In a very un-Taylor-like fashion, she announced the title and track list around 16 hours before its release.

This album is truly unlike any album she has put out, and the lyrics reflect it.

Taylor Swift flexes her lyrical talents on folklore, so here are 20 of the best lyrics from the album!

You drew stars around my scars, but now I'm bleedin'.

-"cardigan"

I knew you'd linger like a tattoo kiss. I knew you'd haunt all of my what-ifs.

-"cardigan"

Free of women with madness, their men and bad habits.

-"the last great american dynasty"

You're not my homeland anymore, so what am I defending?

-"exile" (featuring Bon Iver)

Second, third, and hundredth chances, balancing on breaking branches.

-"exile" (featuring Bon Iver)

And if I'm on fire, you'll be made of ashes too.

-"my tears ricochet"

We gather stones, never knowing what they'll mean; some to throw, some to make a

diamond ring.

-"my tears ricochet"

You are not like the regulars, the masquerade revelers, drunk as they watch my

shattered edges glisten

-"mirrorball"

...they called off the circus, burned the disco down. When they sent home the horses and the rodeo clowns, I'm still on that tightrope.

-"mirrorball"

Your braids like a pattern. Love you to the moon and to Saturn.

-"seven"

To live for the hope of it all. Cancel plans just in case you call and say "Meet me

behind the mall". So much for summer love and saying "Us", 'Cause you weren't mine

to lose.

-"august"

I got wasted like all my potential.

-"this is me trying"

Take the words for what they are: A dwindling, mercurial high. A drug that only

worked the first few hundred times.

-"illicit affairs"

And you know damn well, for you, I would ruin myself

...a million little times.

-"illicit affairs"

Time, mystical time, cutting me open, then healing me fine.

-"invisible string"

Cold was the steel of my axe to grind for the boys who broke my heart.

Now I send their babies presents.

-"invisible string"

Holds your hand through plastic now. Doc, I think she's crashin' out. And some things

you just can't speak about.

-"epiphany"

Will you kiss me on the porch in front of all your stupid friends? If you kiss me will it

be just like I dreamed it? Will it patch your broken wings?

-"betty"

I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best. But the rain is always gonna come if

you're standing with me.

-"peace"

Stood on the cliffside screaming "Give me a reason". Your faithless love's the only

hoax I believe in.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
