I've been a die hard Taylor Swift fan since I received her first album for Christmas 10 years ago. I’ve been to concerts, memorized lyrics, and defended her when haters would dog her, cause haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. I stuck by her through every relationship and “relationship,” cause players gonna play, play, play, play, play. “She’s not ‘going through men left and right,’ she’s doing what everyone does: date until you find the one,” I would say. I mean let’s get real… I can think of many people who have dated 5+ people in an 8 year period and I know you can too. But this time… I’m not sure if I can take #TeamTaylor.
Recently, pictures of Taylor and a Mr. Tom Hiddleston getting cozy on a beach have surfaced. This came as a total shock because Taylor just got out of a year long relationship with hunky Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris. Can we put a little more emphasis on just just just. On June 1, it was made known to the fans and rest of the general public, that the relationship had ended on good terms might I add. Calvin even tweeted, “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect." Then 2 weeks following, we feast our eyes on Tay and Tom making out in Rhode Island. For me and most people, I cannot wrap my head around how she could move on from a happy and, as the couple put it, “magical” relationship that lasted over a year so quickly. It has others assuming sparks were flying well before end of Tayvin, leading to it’s demise. But, I refuse to jump to that conclusion. Taylor can’t possibly be a cheater. Can’t. Possibly. What I can jump to is right on board the train of #TeamCalvin. From the looks of both of their social media profiles, a clear line has been drawn. All pictures of each other have been deleted from their Instagram accounts. Calvin tweeted, but later deleted, “Oh boy it's about to go down,” on June 15th.
Now, I want you to know that Taylor will always be my girl, but I keep thinking about how Calvin must be feeling. It has to be endlessly heartbreaking to watch someone who stood by your side for so long to be standing by someone else’s less than a month after the fall out. The fresh wound made even deeper. I can’t imagine. Taylor, in her own words, simply, “rub[bed] it in so deep, salt in the wound.” And, now they got bad blood.
