Spouses Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum took the stage on Spike’s season 2 premiere of "Lip Sync Battle" last Thursday night. The show has pairs duel in the ultimate lip sync challenge. Justin Bieber, Ann Hathaway and many others have had viral performances from the show.
The couple, who first found love on scene of "Step Up," took the stage in "Lip Sync Battle." We knew they could dance, but they continued to remind us of their talent throughout these performances. They were not just lip syncing but included costumes, special guests, and the best part: full choreography.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum opened the show with “Cold Hearted” by Paula Abdul. Jenna killed the stage with detailed choreography and Paula Abdul even stopped by to join Jenna in the dance routine. After the performance, host Chrissy Teigen said, “You guys were dancing like you were in the womb together!”
The Frozen mania continues as Channing comes out as Queen Elsa singing “Let It Go”. Gown, braid, and the castle were all a part of the show. As a Frozen fan, this was a perfect reenactment. Snowflake men eventually join him in sprinkling snow around the stage. The couple said "Let It Go" is their daughter's favorite song.
Jenna’s final song: the re-enactment of Channing’s legendary “Pony” scene in "Magic Mike XXL." She recreates the entire scene with the dance moves, outfit, and setting. Jenna shows that Channing isn’t the only one that has dancing abilities within the couple. After this performance they might as well have handed over the winner’s belt. Jenna is ready to star in the next edition of Magic Mike. “Let me tell you guys, stripping ain’t easy,” Dewan-Tatum said.
Channing takes costume changes seriously. As the finale, he brings his best Beyoncé to the stage singing “Girls Run The World”. He even had a fan blowing his fake (but extremely real looking) hair extensions. As if it couldn't get crazier, Beyoncé herself comes out and joins Channing in the choreography.
I have yet to see a lip sync battle where every single performance by both parties are flawless. Host LL Cool J referred to the couple as “future hall-of-famers”. This battle was one fought to the very end. It wasn’t just a lip sync battle it was an entire performance.
Best Lip Sync Battle ever? You can be the judge here.
