I think we can all agree that art is a great way to express one's thoughts, feelings, and emotions. One form of art that we might not all agree on is tattoos. Yes, it is art. It is the most dedicated form of art because you live with it forever, generally.
If you think tattoos are just damaging ink getting stabbed into your skin, then you have never thought of how meaningful some tattoos can really be. There are tattoos of kids names, floral tattoos, tattoo of animals, tattoos that show a person's faith, tattoos of famous inspirational sayings, the list can go on and on based on the person's imagination.
I have two tattoos. My second one is a combination of two things, my fascination with one rock song and my faith. This tattoo is a floral cross with the scripture, Ecc. 3:11.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
I would like to say that I got this scripture from knowing the Bible backward and forward, but I actually got it from looking up the term "life is beautiful" into some biblical websites. I wanted to find the term "life is beautiful" in scripture because it comes from one of my favorite songs, "Life Is Beautiful" by Six A.M.
I was waiting for my hearse
What came next was so much worse
It took a funeral to make me feel alive
Just open your eyes
Just open your eyes
And see that life is beautiful.
Will you swear on your life,
That no one will cry at my funeral?
This became my favorite song after my mom passed away. After that, listening to this song became a sort of catharsis, which reminded me that life is beautiful in the way that we should appreciate life and how special it is even when there is a loss.
I wanted to combine this song into a scripture because it became a spiritual belief that life is beautiful and that God makes everything beautiful, even though it takes time for a person to see this beauty. The feeling of loss is painful, grieving sometimes feels like a deafening noise that doesn't go away. But holding on to the memory of those who are lost and embracing the life that they had, can make life itself seem beautiful again.
I combined two things that I am passionate about into one tattoo. I read the book of Ecclesiastes and I listened to "Life Is Beautiful" about a hundred times. That's why I love my tattoo. That why I am happy to have it on my skin.
Some people might judge anyone and everyone that has a tattoo. But they should accept that whether a tattoo is a fun spur of the moment experience or a heartfelt expression that was thought over for years and years, every tattoo is a piece of art. A very dedicated piece of art.
