@Tasteofstate, an Instagram account highlighting the most crave-worthy State College foods, is the newest sensation in the Penn State social media community. Gaining over 700 followers since June 29, this account has received so much positive feedback, and even classic State College eateries like McLanahan's and the Berkey Creamery follow it.

Chelsea Lefkowitz, a rising PSU senior runs @tasteofstate with her communication and social media skills as an advertising major at the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications. "I take a lot of my knowledge from school itself, and also my internship and work experiences [to run this account]," Lefkowitz said. "I think that really helped with publicity on the page, reaching out to restaurants, and the content creation itself."

Lefkowitz curates all posts on the account, including the captions, hashtags and story posts. Many of the pictures on the account are her photography, but she also encourages picture submissions through DM's because she "want[s] everyone to feel included and involved" in the State College foodie community.

Before creating this account, Lefkowitz noticed that there weren't any active State-College-based foodie accounts on social media. Amidst quarantine, she became inspired to start one so that "Penn Staters and community members can come together and bond over something we all love -- which is ultimately delicious food."

"I wish I had something like this when I was a freshman," said Lefkowitz, as this account not only serves as an mouthwatering Insta stalk, but also a helpful guide to all things State College food. In the story highlights, you can find a user-friendly list of "What To Taste at State" and announcements from local restaurants including reopenings and new menu items. Lefkowitz is always open to questions via DM to help followers have the best Happy Valley eating experience.

As @tasteofstate continues to grow, so does the account's involvement with local restaurants. Lefkowitz wants to continue to establish these relationships, as she has been reposting from places like Snap Custom Pizza, Yallah Foods and Happy Valley Brewing to promote them. Recently, she even partnered with McLanahan's to offer the first ever @tasteofstate giveaway!

As fall move-in gets closer each day, following @tasteofstate will make you even more excited to get back on campus and go to your favorite Happy Valley restaurants. Don't know where to go first? Here are some of Lefkowitz's recommendations:

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
