Friday January 25th, Jonathan Anwar known by his stage name DJ Jersey Jon teamed up with Logan Forbes (Untitledexport) and Jahmez (Sloppy Vinyl) to host a talent discovery artist showcase located at the MVMT Space in Elizabeth New Jersey. With the hand of Untitledexport being Fatboy SSE 's manager, and Jersey Jon a famous Celebrity DJ as well an Entrepreneur, who runs hundreds of Concerts, Events and Showcases yearly. Nevertheless this event was just another great event and well put together show that will definitely be remembered for the artist and along with the fans and supporters that attended the show. (The prizes that were given to the contestants are the following) Which followed by Direct support from Untitledexport, a press run sponsored by Sloppy Vinyl, and lastly free studio time provided by the one and only Kash Kannon. The artists were judged on several criteria including stage presence, fanbase, social media presence, and overall performance.
Announced a month in advanced that there'd be three winners to the hip-hop showcase by the end of the night. Although every single competitor did an outstanding performance nevertheless a few shinned more than others. Jersey Jon claimed that the judges came to a decision not only based off of performance, rather they came to a decision with a handful of criterias. Which seemed to be; the crowd size, stage presence, crowd control, image, music quality, style, and few more cretieras not noted. After a few minutes of constructive decision making the three judges came to a decision to place the artists for the rewards. That being said First place winner was a local artist that goes by the name KT (which displayed great stage presence, brought out an amazing interactive crowd and overall a star within himself), Second place winners Super Saih & Ray Bentley (both being two second place winners because the artists were equally matched), and Third place winner J Diamond (which showed a lot of authenticity, great crowd interaction and overall a great vibe). All amazing acts and definitely worth the while watching their live performances.
When asked why he would give away such an amazing opportunity to aspiring artists, Jersey Jon replied that he has felt (hopeless) at a point, in a position once before that nobody was willing to stretch their hands for his own growth so he feels like it's only right to start a friendly trend in New Jersey. Jersey Jon along side with Untitledexport claims that they just wanted to help out artists in their area and give them a platform to boost their music and further their career. It is really amazing to see these two doing so well in the music industry trying to give back and help out artists in which they believe in. Not only to mention that there's rumors that another showcase should happen soon so keep on the lookout to discover new artists or to be discovered in your area, potentially being announced in early February!
