Ariana Grande's songs are such bops that they even resonate with college students majors!
Ariana Grande has been popping out bops since her Nickelodeon days. Growing up, her songs have become more relevant and extremely popular amongst the college student era. Here are 10 Ariana Grande lyrics that pretty much sum up different college majors!
Communication majors may seem to be dull and irrelevant, but let me tell you, the classes are fun! A lot of cultural classes that fall in the lines of music, movies, and more. This song pretty much sums it up — because it is just so fun and carefree!
Is God really a man? Because Ari over here claims that she could be a woman — and I agree. Women rule the world, and based on history, have shown power, talent and relentlessness, even if it is attributed as a mans idea. Gender and Sexuality studies teaches you these out-of-the-box thinking.
Business majors is all about two things: 1. money, and 2. fun. They work so hard in college, and get a lot of money when they graduate and work for a CEO or something. You hear the stereotype of business majors, so you get the drift. They're bougee.
Read the lyrics, you'll get it. It's all about the mind being imaginative and daydreaming scenarios. Psychology 101.
Again, another self-explanatory example. If you haven't heard the song, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND GO NOW!
Lawyers solve problems. Ariana solved her problem — well, one less problem. You get the jist.
It's all about remembering past history — much like the history major. And I had to add this — this is a straight up bop.
This song is controversial, much like politics and our political climate. We still love politics majors and the song, though.
Writing Studies literally studies writing personal experiences, and writing about them. This song was an obvious hardship for Ariana, and she solely wrote this song for Pete and Mac. Obviously, I had to throw this in.
Madea ain't finished yet.
For all Madea fans worldwide, Tyler Perry announced that he will be retiring the character in March 2019 as he prepares the last movie of the Madea series, "Madea's Family Funeral," and play, "Madea's Farewell."
And if you don't know about her, she was an accidental character made by Tyler Perry in a play and became really popular whether she is on stage or on a motion picture movie. Now that she is leaving in March, we got a bucket list for her, and it's going to be epic.
If Made made a mixtape, it would be about her being a badass. In "Madea's Big Happy Family," the play, she really roasted Byron (guy with the black shirt and a light colored shirt over) when he had his pants sagging. The Wild 'N Out cast needs Madea.
You know how straight to the point Madea is if she went into politics. She answered all of the questions with sass and savagery. Madea will SPEAK her mind. That could be the reason why Tyler is retiring the character so she could serve our country the right way. #MadeaForPresident
Madea is the grandma getting pulled over.
GiphyBut don't let Madea get arrested in some countries, but that would have been a good idea for a Madea movie, or a small snippet. She could meet worldwide sensations BTS in Korea. Or better yet, Madea needs to meet Prince Harry and Princess Meghan Markle in England ASAP and she can put some oomph in the castle.
Madea is the star of her very last movie, she better walk on the red carpet to Madea's last movie premiere in her finest fit.
She would be REALLY get the old souls to the store and get her iconic looks.
Put Madea in Celebrity Family Feud, and the crowd would be laughing with her and Steve. Steve Harvey, don't let Tyler Perry put Madea away before you try to get her on the show.
If she spoke at my graduation, I would be rolling all over the floor.
GEICO commercials with Madea? These ads would make SERIOUS money putting a grandma on TV for making us laugh.
The NBA games, or better yet the Super Bowl, is a great way to get Madea involved in sports. And maybe she could get my favorite NFL team in check.
Let's make school even more miserable with Madea teaching a class. It could be either a funny class or a nightmare.
Tyler Perry, you might want to put on that Madea suit on for at least a couple of more years before she retires from acting.
This list of easy-to-binge, addictive shows will help you occupy your time when cuddled up in bed avoiding the rain.
Springtime is supposed to be flowers blooming and spring break trips to the beach. But with Ohio weather, rain is all we get. If you find yourself stuck inside avoiding the rain, check out this list of shows to get your binge-watch on!
Following the story of how psychology was implemented into the FBI, Mindhunter alternates between psych lessons, love stories, and one-on-one time with serial killers. The creators cast and recreate the serial killers almost too well, which I think is the most compelling part of the show. Also, a lot of the scenes were filmed in Pittsburgh, where I am from, so that adds some excitement for me. P.S. for my theatre kids: Jonathan Groff is one of the two main characters and we all love Groff.
Any Nick Kroll fans out there? If you haven't already, watch his hilarious, raunchy cartoon, Big Mouth! It follows his actual life childhood, with John Mulaney playing his best friend Andrew Goldberg. The series details the beauty and horror of puberty in the grossest, yet most relatable way possible. I think I watched the first season in a little less than a week and the second season in two days, so it is definitely binge-able. Kroll voices most of the characters, which is easily my favorite thing about the show. Check out this video to see the genius behind this amazing show.
If you haven't heard of this show, you are actually living under a rock. Everyone and their mothers are watching You. Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager, goes into full stalker mode after meeting Guinevere Beck. I've never watched Gossip Girl (I know, shame on me), but you might recognize the creep as Dan Humphrey. Twitter fell in love with him, despite his psychotic tendencies, so beware!
OK. Right behind Mindhunter, this is my absolute favorite show. Every time a new season gets released on Netflix, I finish that puppy like it's nothing. The stunning Viola Davis plays Annalise Keating, a law professor and defense attorney. She creates a team of five students to help her with cases, and they quickly get involved in a sticky murder case. Every episode features a new case, but there are also larger cases that are covered throughout the whole series. The acting in this is actually INSANE. I had never heard of pretty much all of the actors, besides Viola Davis and Matt McGorry, before watching, but OMG ARE THEY AMAZING OR WHAT?! Besides that, the storylines are hard not to get sucked into and the topics covered make you think a lot. Oh, and intense cliffhangers force you to press play on the next episode.
Queer Eye is a feel-good show if I've ever watched one. The "Fab Five" travels to give makeovers and advice to men around the nation, and boy are they good at it! The transformations in every episode are heartwarming and impressive. It's basically Extreme Home Makeover, but for straight men.
Sam Gardner, a high-schooler on the autism spectrum, is the protagonist of this beautiful show. Sam's main goal throughout the show is to find a girlfriend, and ultimately independence. The show, in my opinion, accurately depicts how autism affects family relations and adolescence. Obviously, shows following characters with disabilities tend to glorify the lives of disabled people. We should not define people by their disabilities and celebrate them for doing everyday actions; this is not treating them equally - you would not celebrate an able-bodied person for doing something as mundane as going on a walk or washing dishes. However, extreme triumphs, like getting into college, which Sam accomplishes, are appropriate to celebrate. That being said, I recommend this show to anyone, as it is eye-opening, but I ask that you keep in mind the points I've shared above.
Jerry Seinfeld and cool cars and coffee and your favorite comedians - what could be better? This awesome series is really entertaining and an easy watch. Their conversations cover a range of topics and it's really cool to see these comedians as normal people getting coffee, instead of performers.
Everyone loves Dance Moms. Well, picture a dance studio where the dancers are ten times better, they go to real competitions, and it's all run by drag icon, Alyssa Edwards. That is Dancing Queen in a nutshell. The show also follows Edwards's family and past, love life, and stardom in the drag world.
Do you like True Crime? The Keepers is the show for you! This docuseries digs deeper into the murder case of Sister Catherine Cesnik, a Catholic teacher at Archbishop Keough High School in Baltimore. The series also follows the closely linked sexual abuse case of Father Joseph Maskell who served the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The whole story is absolutely crazy and the insane amount of evidence they found would make you think that this case would be easy to solve. There a ton of cases like this linked to Catholic dioceses around the nation, but The Keepers gives you personal anecdotes and pushes the boundaries.
Glee is that one show that I watch when I've caught up on all of my other shows. It is so easy to binge and never gets old. It covers basically any topic you can think of AND they sing and dance. How much better could it get? I will admit, the later seasons are not the best, but it's a great show nonetheless. I think I could probably fill a whole notebook with references, some much more cheesier than the rest, and I can't forget about all of the plot lines that made absolutely no sense, but that's not stopping me from watching!
When your Wi-Fi buffers, your life buffers.
It's pretty clear that we can all agree on the fact that social media, the internet, and cellphones were one of the greatest innovations of technology. Many argue that we aren't in touch with reality anymore and how certain "things" have changed. It's also not just technology. It can apply to dating, family relationships and social interactions.
But the thing is, us millennials are tired of hearing older generations judge us. The simple fact is that they don't understand that these issues that we face as millennials are super REAL. For all of my fellow millennials out there, you aren't alone when it comes to problems you face being a millennial. For people who want to understand what it's like being a millennial, here are a few problems that we have to face:
I mean, when was the last time you Googled something? Was it 2 minutes ago? I'm pretty sure everyone can agree on the fact that without Google, we're hopeless. Older generations can't understand why instead of spending 10 minutes looking up the question in an encyclopedia, you can simply search up a question through Google in just 2 seconds?
There should be a law by now that states that all public places should have Wi-Fi that's UNLOCKED. Imagine walking into a restaurant and they don't have Wi-Fi? Oh no, I can see why people write those automatic bad reviews on Yelp.
It's sad because most people have to ask "What are we?" before even moving on to the next step. And now there's a stage called the "talking" stage. WHAT IS THAT? What happened to having a boyfriend or girlfriend and then marriage?
Having to do process of elimination is kind of hard. And besides, no one goes to the movies anymore since they want to charge $12.00 for a small popcorn.
This is actually upsetting. People become friends on social media, but when it's time to meet in person, you instantly don't know anything about them at all. You clam up and get shy because you don't know how to start a conversation in person.
Instead, your phone will tell you "Maybe: Sarah" instead of saying the number so you don't have to try to remember anyway. The only numbers I know by heart are my immediate family, best friend, and my favorite pizza shop.
This is due to the "lack of experience." Also, what's sad is that most millennials rely on taking on easy jobs like being a DJ, a promoter, a rapper and other jobs that don't require interviews. It's hard, because we never got the proper training and high expectations of that company.
This is the worst feeling ever. I'm almost choking up just talking about it. (If you can, buy more storage and a higher gigabyte phone.)
Your parents may say that they paid off their student loans easily. But back then, college was $5,000 a year, and now it's $40,000. Tuition is crazy high and it's hard to pay off those high loans.
When you are shopping at a store, you have a certain budget and you don't feel like trying on many clothes. But online, the shopping is effortless and easy to go overboard. Try to create a budget when online shopping.
Enough said…getting the right picture is a serious issue.
I always roll my eyes because they always want to claim how they walked to school on one leg and barefooted and they didn't have a cellphone…
"If you haven't felt like quitting, your dreams aren't big enough."
It is that time of the semester again, aka like the fifth week of classes, and syllabus week is far from over. Exams are too real now, papers are due, and your social life can't stop for any of the above. But if you think about dropping out as much as me, here are six wonderful reasons to stay in school.
What isn't to love about this? Hungry? Take three steps and you are at a food source. Don't have a lot of time to wait? Order it from your phone. The food might not be 5-star restaurant quality, but it is there and thanks to your tuition, you already paid for it. So basically, it's free right?? If you don't think too hard about this, you can convince yourself you are eating for free.
Don't have class for two hours? That sounds like four episodes of The Office to me. This is totally acceptable too, even encouraged, truly. I am not sure there will be another time in our lives that taking two naps before dinner time would not be frowned upon. Of course, you have to do someeeee work in between classes, but isn't it much better to rest up with a nice nap or watch some Netflix to give your brain a break? Justifying a nap is just that easy in college. I certainly would not want to trade this for the world.
"You have a package at the front desk", is enough to turn any day around. The best part is, there is a 98% chance this package is just yet another textbook, but I will get excited each time. Or, it is just my online shopping habit kicking in again. It really is the simple things in college that make you excited, so why give this joy up???
I am 99% sure we only pay tuition at our school to just pay for all of the free t-shirts we will receive. Honestly, there is no reason to even pack t-shirts to school, because within the first week, you will get enough to last the entire semester, and the semester after, and then even some for Christmas presents. If this doesn't sell you on staying in school, check your priorities.
Packing way too many things into one room and then splitting it in half and living with someone you have met maybe once before? HECK YES! This is without a doubt my favorite part of school. Granted, I got super lucky with my roommate because it is a neverending sleepover party. Even with all of the drama that comes with housing, being able to live with your besties is sooo worth it!! I don't know another time in my life that living with all of my friends will ever be this easy.
I know, you might not use the quadratic equation in your everyday life or the chances of you having to distill an unknown substance all by yourself is slim to none, but this is getting you to where you need to be. Don't let a hard class or a tough professor, or even just a hard test distract you from the end goal. You started this path for a reason, you set a goal for a purpose, so don't let a tiny bump in the road take you off your course. Do it for the student who worked so hard to get to where you are, that woke up way too early for the SAT, for the one who skipped that party to memorize polyatomic ions, and for the one who is going to be super happy in the future pursuing their dream job.
So, don't let the stress of exams, early morning classes, are crappy professors make you feel like you can't do it. You have gotten so far along in this journey and there are too many wonderful things about school to throw away. Keep your head in the game, YOU GOT THIS!!!
