Dating is really difficult. There is no rule book or guide to help you through it. It takes a lot of trust and opening up for it to work. It is a long and emotional process to find the person that you want to spend your life with.

Trusting someone with your emotions can be hard, but once you find that trust and relationship it is an amazing feeling to be loved by someone, but you are also giving them the power to break you when you completely trust someone with your heart.

They always warn you not to make bad decisions with alcohol. From D.A.R.E. to the mandatory alcohol workshop in college, we were all told to limit our drinks. Well, we all had to find our own limits, and some of us not in the most ideal way. Some of us got to personally witness the hard truth to “alcohol removes your inhibitions."

I recently just got my wisdom teeth removed a week ago. Nice way to start the summer right? I was honestly ready to get my teeth out because they had been giving me trouble and I was over it. So, literally right after I got finished with school for the summer, I headed to the dentist's office instead of the beach.

I was a little scared the night before and the morning of surgery. I am bad about overthinking small situations, and boy I was steading over thinking this simple procedure. Little did I know that the surgery part is the easy part, it is the after surgery part that is awful. Well, it is not that bad, but it is not pleasant either.

You look like a chipmunk, your mouth is so numb, nobody can understand what you are saying, and blood is dripping out of your mouth. If you are about to have your wisdom teeth taken out, do not worry over it. It really is not as bad as everyone says it is.

For me, it was just a very irritating three days of being numb and uncomfortable.

Healing hurts but it's necessary to move on.

I just want to make it clear, that I by no means am or plan to a poet. I have only written one other poem my entire life. But to keep myself from going off and hurting myself mentally, emotionally, and physically after a break up, I started to read, (and reread) my poetry books. I wanted to vent, but I didn't want to write long Facebook status or share every sad post. I didn't even want to tell anyone. Although, I knew I needed to turn my hurt, pain and confusion into something healthy and healing. I started to write an article but I couldn't get the words out, unless they were in short pieces. So I tried, to with a poem.

Sophomore year of high school, I remember walking into my Geometry Honors class with a lack of confidence and beady white eyes staring at me. I sat in front of the class and looked around and said to myself, "Wow, I am the only black student." I remember talking with my teacher about my observation and telling her, "I just want you to know that I will work hard not to become another statistic in your classroom."
