LA, You're My Home Sweet Home
The great thing about being home, even if it is just for a week.
If you know me any bit, then you know I miss being home more than anything. Like legit. I miss being home with my parents and watching soccer or roasting each other. I miss hanging out with my cousins while we gossip over their middle school lives. I miss sitting outside with my dogs and giving them head scratches while they sit in my lap.
Yeah, it sounds dumb because I chose to move away and leave home, but I swear that it isn't like that.
There's nothing I miss more than home after a long week or a couple of weeks of nonstop work and school. The feeling of being home and smelling your mom cooking your favorite meal in the kitchen.
It also just sucks when you're alone in a city far away from home. Yes, friends can help keep you company, but it is nothing like being surrounded by family and friends that have known you all of your life.
Personally, I am also extremely family oriented and am a lot closer to my family compared to other people. This is why I try to go home whenever I have the chance to go home, which has been harder to do within the past year, but it is the effort that matters.
This spring break I made sure to make the most out of the ten days at home by spending time with my loved ones, eating my favorite homemade meals, and forgetting about my life in a new city.
Being back home almost makes me feel like I'm a young girl still. Hanging out with all of my old friends, sleeping in my childhood bedroom, etc.
But there's also the opportunity to do more exploring, like visiting new restaurants and places of nearby cities.
The only downside to going home, especially for a short amount of time, is the fact that it sucks going "back to reality," especially the first few days.
And while it might result in you counting down the days till you go back, just remember that there is no such thing as your home sweet home.
