Trust Me, Learn To Make Time For Yourself
You are the most important person in your life.
"The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the the relationship with yourself." -Diane Von Furstenberg
We all get caught up in the fast lane of life. Days come and go like a gust of wind. Here I am, already a senior in college. I remember like it was just yesterday arriving to my dorm freshman year and decorating it with my parents. Where has the time gone? These past four years have been weighed down by assignments, tests, deadlines, seminars, projects, sleeping, stressing, and wishing it would already be over. Looking back, I haven't really taken the time to care for myself. I haven't taken the time to do what I truly want to do.
In recent weeks, I've learned that I truly need to make time for myself to fulfill my wants and things that will make me happy. I have been doing things that I love but I haven't done in years due to the craziness of life and college. I've been reading books. I've been sleeping in. I've been hanging out with more friends. I've started going out at night a little bit more. I've been doing things for me simply because they are what I want to do, not what I have to do.
It is better for your brain and your overall health to take a step back and have time for YOU.
Take time to think about what truly makes you happy. What do you like to do? What makes you relax? What could help boost your self-esteem? What could make you a better human being and build up your confidence? It's important to think about these things. I have asked myself each of these questions and given them some thought. I've learned that I really love to go white-water rafting. I love to walk through the woods with my dog. Reading helps me relax. I've learned to do my makeup a little bit better and sexier and that helps boost my self-esteem. I have been more aware of how I treat people and have taken the time to work on how I speak to people. All of these things developed because I took the time to take care of myself and make that time for myself. Make time for yourselves, ladies. It'll be worth it and you'll be glad that you did.
"Be kinder to yourself. And then let your kindness flood the world." -Pema Chodron
