If you spend a lot of your time in the weight room, chances are you listen to music as you exercise.
If you spend a lot of your time in the weight room, chances are you listen to music as you exercise. If that's so, then I suggest you give these ten songs a listen! I selected them from a variety of genres, from the past decade, and they fill me with tons of energy when running! Hopefully, you find something on this list that resonates with yourself!
1. Illusion of Choice- Gramatik (2012)
'Illusion of Choice' is a dubstep piece by Slovenian music producer Gramatik, released six years ago. One Youtube channel used a couple of his songs in their dance videos, one of which you can see above. It's pretty impressive, to say the least!
2. Live it Up- Nicky Jam (2018)
'Live It Up' is the official song of The 2018 FIFA World Cup, released toward the end of May. The song is by Puerto Rican artist Nicky Jam and also features Will Smith and Era Istrefi. You can definitely feel the vibes resonating from the techno-reggae beats!
3. X- Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Saudi (2018)
Although not a highlight of The Black Panther Album, released in February, 'X' grew on me the more and more I listened to it. It has catchy lyrics and a nice beat. What more could you ask for?
4. Burial- Yogi, Pusha T(2014)
I'm just now hearing about this song, although it released about four years ago. Even still, I've had it on replay for the past few days! Once again, the lyrics are catchy and I like the electronic beat, especially starting at the 1:10 mark! Also, it is just me or was part of this song included in the Arby's commercials?
5. Paper Trails- Joey B (2015)
Hard beat and hard bars. I appreciate Joey B's work mainly because there's usually meaning and/or truth behind the lyrics. That's something you can contemplate yourself as you listen to this track a few times.
6. I'm So Sorry- Imagine Dragons (2015)
7. Party Animal- Con Bro Chill (2014)
What a fun, energetic song to listen to! Youtuber Devinsupertramp, known for traveling and extreme sports, played this in one of his zip-lining videos and I couldn't get it out of my head. It's chill, it's catchy, and I imagine bungee-jumping with friends as I listen to it!
8. Lyrics To Go- A Tribe Called Quest (Dan The Automator Remix) (1993/2006)
Originally released in 1993 by 'A Tribe Called Quest', then remixed in 2006 by Dan the Automator, this song made its way into Battlefield Hardline in 2015, where I would play it on the in-game radio. I used Soundhound to find it on iTunes and started playing this at the gym.
9. Likes- Chronixx (2017)
Even more Reggae! 'Likes' was released last year by Jamaican artist Chronixx. It provides smooth island jams for you to vibe to while you run!
10. Look Alive- BlocBoy JB, Drake (2018)
The lyrics are ok, but I mainly listen to this for the beat.
