I swear I love my job. I'm a waitress and I work with some of the funniest, nicest people. Everyone genuinly cares. That is until the boss comes in.
My boss while attempting to care, also forgets a lot about what it means to be a waitress or cook. I call him a boss versus a manager because when he's at work, he doesn't lead, he bosses. He has unrealistic expectations about needs to happen.
When we have a supervisor in, I swear I love my job unil horrible customers show up and get mad because the song that they have requested on the juke box does not play and their food comes out a couple minutes later than normal when the resturant is slammed.
But I swear I love my job because it teaches me more than any classroom ever will about the real world. I learn to understand that what you're asking for, isn't the easiest way to get what you want. That on any given day you can be crazy busy or really bored or change between the two in a matter of minutes.
I love my job because it teaches me so much about how to work with people better than any group project ever will. I learn that yes, some people are unfair and others will suck up to people in charge, but some times it's more important to follow your morals than to pursue short term gratification.
Today, I almost quit because I had gotten so frustrated with life, but I swear I love my job because the best part about it was when coworkers came to my resuce to make sure I didn't leave. They spent the next hour making me laugh.
I think that while I may only work as a waitress to help me get through college, I made lifelong friends and learned so much. So while I may complain about work, I swear I love my job.
