CBS's hit survival competition show, "Survivor," is well into its 32nd season on-air. Renewed for its incredible filming locations, the current season was shot in Kaoh Rong, the second largest island in Cambodia. Despite its beautiful blue waters and lush forests, the shores are home to some menacing insects and wildlife -- not to mention extreme heat and tropical storms.
Undeniably, the elements have been taking a heavy toll on the cast members of "Survivor: Kaoh Rong." During one of their first episodes, three contestants collapsed as a result of heat stroke after competing in an immunity challenge. Deemed one of the most frightening happenings in "Survivor" history, contestant Caleb Renyolds was frantically evacuated from the game after his body temperature reached nearly 107°F. Several episodes later, a medical team was spontaneously called into the cast's campground to evaluate injuries that had accumulated on a number of players. One contestant, Neal Gottlieb, had complained of a festering infection on his knee. Considered too dangerous to ignore, the doctor pulled Gottlieb from the game to have his wounds further examined. With only 10 contestants left, fans are wondering if Mother Nature's wrath will continue toying with the game of "Survivor." Host Jeff Probst admitted that Reynolds's evacuation was the scariest moment he'd ever experienced on the show. After so many dangerous situations in this season alone, audiences are left questioning the overall safety of the program. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Probst explains the preparedness and efficiency of the crew.
"It wasn’t until Caleb was safely in the air and the Survivors had headed back to camp, that all of us on the crew were able to take in everything that had just happened," Probst explained. "I was so proud of every single crew member and the way we all came together. My proudest moment in 32 seasons. That may sound odd, but it truly was bonding through crisis."
