With summer finally here, I wanted to share with you my summer un-bucket list. Yes, you read that correctly. A summer un-bucket list is a list of things that I will not be doing this year. I always go into summer with such high expectations and then they fall flat after I sink back into my bad habits. These are just a few things that I plan to avoid this season.
1. Checking Instagram on the way to work and getting FOMO
Summer is a time for work, play, or whatever you want to do. College kids chose to spend their days differently. I refuse to look at the beach pictures before I clock in because it isn’t worth it.
2. Eating out all the time
There is literally no excuse for this now. I have returned to a full-size kitchen and free reign on how and when I use it. Meal prep and making smarter choices are a must.
3. Buying too many new swimsuits
I do this every single year. I go a little crazy in the swimwear section and then realize I barely go to the beach.
4. Neglecting the gym
It is so easy to take the free time you finally have and use it to be lazy. Not this year. I will be placing gym time in my top priority.
5. Spending most of my time indoors
Going to a city school has made me really miss having greenery around. This summer I want to make the most of being in a small suburban area and spend more time outside.
6. Waiting for plans to come to me
Initiation is key this summer. No longer will I wait around for the “you busy?” text.
7. Skipping out on summer staples
Especially since I am not neglecting the gym, I will take the opportunity to enjoy my favorite summer treats especially from the local spots that I rarely get to eat from during the school year.
8. Pile on a bunch of books but never read any
I love to read, but during the year with school work and just general life, I never get the time. This summer I will tackle that pile of books in the corner of my room and hopefully begin to check things off my list.
