1. Make a plan- Many times, vacationers will plan to "wing" their vacation and make plans as the days come.
However, in order to make the most of your vacation, make plans ahead of your trip. Make sure to book/buy attraction tickets, plane tickets, museum visits, etc. in advance to have ready a week ahead of vacation. Call your hotel and airlines a few days before departure to ensure accurate plans. This will hopefully make your vacation and travel plans smoother and overall more relaxing.
2. Save- On vacation, one undeniable thing is that you will return with more than you left with.
This extra baggage is known as souvenirs. However, these gifts for friends, family, and even yourself can add up to make your vacation much more costly than anticipated. In order to avoid the worry of going over budget, start saving small amounts of money to use as spending money while on vacation a few weeks, or even months, before a trip. This extra money can also be used for food or events.
3. Packing- When going on vacation, most people overpack.
Be sure to check the weather for your destination and pack appropriately. It is also important to pack realistically. Before adding an article to your vacation wardrobe, ask yourself when, where, and why you would wear it.
4. Pets- When we vacation, our pets do too. Make sure to find a pet sitter or hotel for your best friend to stay with.
5. Travel essentials- The week before departing for your summer getaway, be sure to have maps, passports, boarding passes, and any other travel essentials ready for take off! This will ensure a smooth start to vacation.
6. Traveling with Kids?- When traveling with kids always make sure to have something to entertain them.
Coloring books, small toys, and games are good options to keep any child occupied in the case of bad weather or travel delays.
