In honor of summer starting, I thought I would write an article about some of my favorite throwback songs from the past eight summers. My freshmen year of high school until my junior year of college. I took a year off and a semester off, so if you get confused why I am only a junior. I will be the first to admit that some songs in the summer will always have some sort of memory for you. I have a lot of songs like that; however, this is the top eight songs from the past eight years, that I love and associate with some best/funny/cute summer moments. It can relates to crushes, friends, or funny inside jokes I have had with people.

2009. "The Climb"- Miley Cyrus

I was still in eighth grade when this song came out, but that next year, I was starting high school... I remember, how much I did listen to this song. To be honest, it got me through so much, also this song was an anthem for a bunch of incoming freshmen in high school. Let's be honest, also we all secretly still love this song.

2010. "Teenage Dream"- Katy Perry

I think of one person when I hear this song, I remember the month I heard it and how I love this song right away! Don't we all have a song like this from our high school years? I was a sixteen-year-old, give me a break....I was angsty teen then.

2011. "Somebody I Used To Know"- Gotye feature Kimbra

My dad really liked this song when it came out. For some odd reason, this is the song I associate with the summer of 2011. He made me buy this song for his iPod... to be honest, I hate this song now.

2012. "Call Me Maybe"- Carly Rae Jepsen

All I can say to this song that this was our senior girl dance at band camp and the senior girls did a dance to it while giving out (fake) numbers.... It was a great time! Ha, get it, she has another great song called, "Good time."

2013. "Brave"- Sara Bareilles

This song was important as it came out right around the corner before I graduated high school and it helped me throughout the years even after summer of 2013.

2014. "Happy" -Pharrell Williams

It came out in 2013, but this song did not really get popular to the summer of 2014... This song was the go-to song in that summer; however, this song did get old really fast as every radio station played it.

2015. "Marvin Gaye"- Charlie Puth featuring Meghan Trainor

The beat of the song made of the 1950s and it was just an amazing song when it came out. I listen to it probably every day of 2015. I babysat a little girl that year, I did a dance to it and the video is somewhere on my Facebook.

2016. "Boyfriend"- Tegan and Sara

I think of the scene in the first episode of the series Riverdale and I just love the beat of this song and it is turning into my favorite song this summer. I forgot that they sang this.

2017. "Be My Baby (Remake)"- Bea Miller

I know that everyone is hating on the remake of "Dirty Dancing", but, I did not watch it. I heard a couple of the songs off the CD and by the far, this is my favorite song on the remake CD.

Maybe some of these songs are some of your favorites. Music is one of my favorite things to have playing in the background when I do everything. For example, I have been listening to nine songs that are my throwback summer songs on this list.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
