A Guide To Styling Cutoffs For Any Summer Occasion

With finals coming to an end and the official start of summer approaching, it is time for us to ditch our rain boots and leggings for some more appropriate summer items. When I think of my summer wardrobe the first piece that comes to mind is cutoffs. Every girl owns a pair of denim cutoffs, and if you don’t I suggest you go out right now and get a pair. They are the easiest piece to style for the summer due to their versatility. They can be dressed up, dressed down and used for any casual occasion.

The key to styling denim cutoffs is to know how to style them. What shoes do you wear? What top do you wear? What accessories do you wear? The answer to all these questions depends on the occasion of which you are dressing for. With that said, here is a guide to styling denim cutoffs for any occasion this summer.

Brunch

Brunch is a very popular activity for the summer time. After a night out and a morning of sleeping in there is nothing better than getting a little dressed up and going out for a good meal, mimosas included. Whether it is a casual or formal brunch there are ways to style cutoffs. For a fancy brunch, I suggest pairing your cutoffs with a loose blouse or some sort, or even a button down tucked in. A pair of fancy sandals, or some comfortable wedges are ideal to dress up you denim.

Night Out

One of my favorite ways to style denim cutoffs is for a night out. It creates an effortless look that is super cool and edgy. For a night out, pair your wedges with a pair of booties or heels, wear darker denim or distressed cutoffs and throw on some sort of jacket to make it appropriate for the night time (leather is my jacket of choice).

Beach Day

The beach is an obvious place to sport your cutoffs. It is also super easy to style your cutoffs for the beach. Just throw them on over your bathing suit, whether it be classic bikini or a trendy one piece. Wear a pair of flip flops and a tank or casual tee and you are good to go.

Shopping

Denim cutoffs are great for shopping because they are quick and easy to take on and off when jumping from fitting room to fitting room. Wear them with a pair of slip on shoes that are comfortable to walk in (flats, vans, etc). As for the top, I suggest something with sleeves. No matter what season malls and shops seem to be unreasonably cold inside, so covering up your arms will make you much more comfortable while shopping around.

Concert

Last but not least, concerts. Concerts are the best part of the summer. Good music, good friends, the tailgates…and the cute outfits. Denim cutoffs are perfect for summer concerts, they have pockets so you don’t need to carry around a purse, and are easy to pair with layers to move from day to night. Pair your cutoffs with sneakers or boots, wearing closed toed shoes will protect your feet from potential mosh pits or the dirty ground. As for the top, a tee shirt with a flannel or cardigan over is ideal. Tie the flannel around your waist for the hot summer day, and throw it over your shoulder for the chilly nighttime.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
