Summer is just around the corner, so we must say a farewell, not permanently, to the awful Minnesota winter for a couple of months. So long cold weather and sad songs and hello to 10 songs that give the essence of summer. Summer is the time to relax, hang with friends, sleep to 12:00 pm and make great memories. These songs have filled my summer’s in the past with great memories and I passed them along to all of you to enjoy.

1. "Do You Love Someone" by Grouplove

This song is the epitome of summer to me. I specifically remember finishing my last final of freshman year and happily waiting for the bus to arrive. Grouplove and this song, specifically, kick-started my summer of 2017.

2. "Cool With You" by Her's

“Cool With You” By Her’s is a fresh mix of R&B flavor with a taste of alternative rock. This song is smooth and is perfect for late night drives with friends during the summer.

3. "We Are Young" by Fun ft. Janelle Monáe

A classic from my ripe middle school years of lime green converse and neon pink eyeshadow. I will always love this song and could listen to it on repeat. This is a perfect song to get wild and make a couple mistakes while being responsible.

4. "Loving Is Easy" by Rex Orange County ft. Benny Sings

I love Rex Orange County to the moon and back, as well as this lovely song. “Love Is Easy” screams fun and carefree vibes. It makes me want to fall in love and listen to endless Rex Orange County tunes.

5. "Summer Love" by Justin Timberlake

“Summer Love” is the definition of a love that us lonely singles strive to have during the summer of 2018. Justin Timberlake and this nostalgic R&B tune is the embodiment of summer.

6. "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers

“Ho Hey” is the song for those unplanned summer adventures with your friends. Aimlessly driving around town and searching for activities to fill the hot, summer nights. “Ho Hey” is the perfect song for that.

7. "Flowers On The Floor" by LANY

The band LANY knows how to make amazing summer tracks to listen on repeat. “Flowers On The Floor” is a romantic song with fun vibes that will make dance around your room for hours on end.

8. "Oui" by Jeremih

“Oui” has been a summer jam since senior year of high school and it will always be a jam for me. This R&B tune is an absolute favorite causing you to sing along without fear on a beautiful summers day.

9. "Broken Clocks" by SZA

As we all know, this is a list of songs created by yours truly, Aby, and it wouldn’t the same if an SZA song wasn’t included. SZA released “Ctrl” about a year ago and that album gives the essence of summer. “Broken Clocks” is a badass song that makes you want to vibe with your girls.

10. "Fall In Love" by Godlink

Last, by not least, a tune that’ll make you dance like nobody’s watching and a tune that I’ve danced to many time while avoiding homework. This song makes me want to fall in love this summer and find that picturesque romance everyone dreams of.

Hopefully, you can enjoy these songs as much as I did for the summer and create great memories with friends that will last a lifetime!

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
