With classes coming to an end, and moving back home being on everyone's mind, students all around can now say that it is officially summer. Everyone, and I mean everyone, looks forward to the freedom of school work and professors. Summer can mean different things for different people. For some, it may be the cram of summer classes, or working at the local ice cream stand. As for me, it means country music is always on repeat, camping, and just enjoying friends and family that I may have not seen being away at school. But, summer is so much more than all that.
Once classes end, and you're officially moved back in with your parents, usually the start of summer is getting back into the swing of things; relocating all the snacks in the house, how to use the shower and maybe making sure your pets remember who you are. That sounds about right. Depending on the ending of other universities, your friends may not be back from school yet, so you're stuck entertaining yourself until then. Your habit of binge watching "Orange is the New Black" may follow you home, but that is OK! With the weather not cooperating like you'd want, and the sun not being out as much as you'd planned, Netlflix is certainly OK.
I know for me, I always have a summer bucket-list. Correction, summer wish list. There are always new places you want to discover or beaches to lay out on. But, with only four months or so to get everything you want to do done, it's hard to pick and choose what to do first. I always like getting together with friends first; seeing who may have changed their look, who's dating who and just reconnecting. Reconnecting with friends after eight months apart allows you to see how much can change and let's you all decide what to do this summer!
Summer also brings freedom, carelessness and sun for sure! Now, when I say freedom, I am particularly saying freedom from school responsibilities. The law still plays a big role in decisions made (I am not condoning illegal activity!) There is no stress of submitting a paper, or studying for a test. You're living every day spontaneously, with no regrets. Summer may mean friday night bonfires, late night drives with the windows down, or relaxing days by the lake. Personally, all of these are my favorite things about summer.
Every weekend, the family and I head out to camp, and enjoy time spent together on the lake. From kayaking to fishing, there is never a dull moment. Country music is also a big part of my summers. Country music is a great relaxation method because most songs are pretty much about summer! Going to concert, enjoying the music, has to be one of my favorite things about summer.
Summer is meant to be spent with people you care about, making memories you will never forget. All these ideas about summer are why I believe summer has to be the best season out of the four. Now it's time to kick back, and start to enjoy what summer has to bring. Summer 2016, I'm ready for you!
