The beautiful vibrant flowers at Penn State’s Arboretum has finally sprung up again and we’re slowly approaching the average 80-degree weather, which means summer is just around the corner.

If you need a break from the sun and a little peace and quiet during the long summer days, grabbing a book isn’t a bad idea. Drifting away into a fictional world can be mentally healthy especially if you’re around irritating siblings for too long. Sometimes entangling yourself in blankets on a thundering summer afternoon engulfed in the perfect book is all you need.

Here are nine books to fill up those long summer days:

1. I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson.

2. The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

3. Looking For Alaska by John Green

4. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

5. Incidents In The Life Of A Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs

6. This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

7. One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

8. The Shining by Stephen King

9. 2 AM Thoughts by Makenzie Campbell and Hailey Chamberlain

Bonus! Read the Harry Potter series if you haven't already or reread the series again. Summer wouldn't be summer if you didn't allow your minds to enter the Hogwarts hallways. There are so many details the movies leave out!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
