Summer Internships You Should Start Applying for

With second semester right around the corner, there's only a short amount of time until summer is here. From previous experience, I can tell you that summer is the best time to intern. As college students, we should be applying for as many internships as possible because they give us the experience we need to get ready for the real deal. To help some of y'all out, I have saved you the time and effort and wrote this article on summer internship opportunities that I have researched.

2015 Summer Internships:

Engineering Logistics for Walmart:

Paid base salary.

The 2015 Logistics summer internship program is designed to prepare you for a full-time role within Walmart Logistics. As a Walmart Logistics Intern, you will analyze and design DC processes (material flow, transportation, etc.); demonstrate up-to-date expertise in your field and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans; execute logistics engineering projects; and identify and implement initiatives to reduce operation expenses within the supply chain. http://jobs.walmart.com/us/united-states/supply-ch...

Technology Services Intern (BNSF Railway)

Paid $3,938 per month.

The summer internship program provides you an opportunity to learn more about how BNSF's efficient, safe and “green” rail network supports the global supply chain. You’ll participate in group events and projects, experiencing first-hand what it is like to be a full-time BNSF employee. Operating one of the largest railroads in North America, they have countless opportunities for you to develop your skills, create new ideas and even travel! http://jobs.bnsf.com/job/Fort-Worth-Technology-Ser...

Are you a bottom line, numbers-oriented person with a talent for working with financial models, reports, and spreadsheets? If you have an interest in corporate accounting and how Santander Consumer collects and submits financial numbers to make informed business decisions, then you may be a good fit for their Accounting Internship. https://santander-openhire.silkroad.com/epostings/...

Little Rock Zoo Intern Animal Care and Education Internships

The Little Rock Zoo is now accepting applications for 2015 summer animal care and education internships. The Zoo is seeking dependable, hard working college students interested in the field of animal care. Interns will gain valuable experience with exotic animals by training with professional zookeepers. These internships are unpaid and experience-based. Housing and transportation are the responsibility of the intern. The 2015 summer internship term will begin Friday, May 29th and will continue until mid-August. End dates may be no earlier than August 6th and no later than August 24th. https://www.aza.org/Jobs/detail.aspx?id=36632

These are just a few I stumbled upon, but using indeed.com and typing in “summer internship” and the city/state, will help you find many internship options to apply for.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
