As images of summer and beaches are flooding the thoughts of many college students, one thing that many are looking forward too is returning to their families. Whether you haven’t seen each other in months, years, or just a few weeks, seeing your family again is an exciting way too start off the summer.
For many students, including myself, it took leaving home to realize how much you actually liked living with your family. Sure, there were always fights, and you and your parents did not see eye to eye on many different issues, but being away from home made you realize how much you need your family. The independence of college is great, but we have all had those days when we wished we were back home, in the presence of our families and loved ones. Going away has made us realize how great some of our home luxuries were.
So, to my family, I want to say thank you. Thank you for always being there, and accepting me for who I am. Thank you for not getting mad when I complain about school and homework, but also for letting me explore college, and the world around me. Thank you for giving me the skills to be successful, and making my happiness your priority.
So, as we are worried about finishing up projects and finals, and sadly saying good bye to all the great friends that have made our year so fantastic, do not be too upset about leaving. Going home for a few months can be positive. Relaxing and enjoying the sun with some of the people who love you most is just the vacation you need before the start of another semester!!
