Summer Classes Are Rough & Tough Man

Summer classes are not for the weak, just being honest.

A little peek into what my afternoons look like during these summer months.

First off, do not think I am crazy. I make the voluntary choice to go to CLASSES during the summer, you read that right, classes is plural so there is more than one. I am so determined to get this degree at Jacksonville State University because I have got bigger fish to fry in this world.

Summer class will make you truly remember why you not only chose to go to college but why you chose the degree and career that you have. This is like the first year of marriage for some couples, IT WILL NOT BE EASY. You will work so hard over the course of four to eight weeks that you will not even be able to sleep or eat without resisting your notes or imagining the literature story in your mind. You better put on your working clothes for this one gal pal.

Summer classes will make you value time so much that you will not know what hit you. You will value ten extra minutes in the car to study more than you ever did. You will value time eating at the table instead of eating an endless amount of junk food on the couch as you go through you note from that day. You will treasure time spent on your mom's porch without getting a paper cut from your textbook. Time is of the essence!

Summer classes will help you get in touch with reality. If you are anything like me then you are probably going to school full-time and working full-time. I have never felt more like an adult until this very day that I am writing this. I have learned the difference between productivity and just trying to stay busy to make it through the day.

There are not enough hour days in the day for all of the work between my job and school for me to get it all done, but Jesus always provides a way. Let me give you a little sneak peek into my adult afternoons and evenings...last night I drove home from work on a world conference call, hit the door and turned on C-SPAN and sat there until 9:30 at night watching votes gets approved and denied and reading about King Arthur. I am not sure how I go to so old so fast. SOMEBODY COME HELP YA GIRL!!

Summer classes will also teach you how fast four weeks actually pass by. I just started a class this past week and my midterm is next Tuesday. I have never in my life know how fast time could just fly past you and leave you standing there spinning like a tornado. It is no sooner than I actually get in the routine of going to school that I am a free woman again with no textbooks before falls come.

Summer classes are for those with great work ethic, strong emotionally, because your coping skills will be tested, and a hand that is ready to write or type until it slap falls off.

You have got this just like I do.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
