Going Home For The Summer Is Great, But I'll Still Miss My College Home

As the semester comes to a close, everyone is excited to finally be going home. We've spent the past five months in the same environment. Every day is almost identical to each other. You see the same people, eat at the same places, go to the same classes. It becomes relative.

So the opportunity to be free from the cycle is an opportunity that most students jump at. Being home gives students a break from the relative cycle that is college. Wake up, Eat, Class, Eat, Study, Class, Eat, Study, Eat, Study, Sleep. The cycle for many is draining in itself.

Going home it is a much more relaxed setting. It's like a choose your own adventure. If you want to work all summer, work all summer. If you want to take the summer off and just spend time with your friends, do it. Summer is the ultimate opportunity to do what you want for once.

Being in college has gotten me used to being constantly busy. This is due, you need to go to this meeting or that event. While the semester is running there is always something to do or something that's due. There isn't a lot of time for side projects, so summer is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby or return to an old one.

Although it's nice to get away from college for a while. College has become my second home. A place where I can truly be an adult and not have my parents completely worried about me. I have my own family of friends here, that I will miss when I go home.

That's why summer break is perfect. It gives you time to go see everyone back home. So when you return you're excited to see your friends at college again. It's almost the perfect stress-free break that all college students need at this point in the semester.

So if you're going home for the summer. Enjoy your time spent at home, do not rush, relax. This is your time to recuperate before next semester's train pulls into the station.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
