Summer is a time for relaxing and enjoying the sun and warm weather while we can. But, for many busy college students, it also means catching up on all those shows during the fall and winter that we put off watching to make sure we didn't fall behind in our studies. Maybe someone even enjoys binge-watching some new shows during their days off from work. Regardless, here are some of my summer picks for a binge-watching marathon.
"Game of Thrones"
Personally, I put off watching GoT for many reasons. A big one was being told that, when it first came out, the show was just a bunch of family members sleeping with each other. Well, I finally caved and now I'm addicted and can not get enough of either the Starks or the Lannisters. Coupled with the conflicts between the Seven Kingdoms, ther writers use plotlines to throw curve balls every chance they get, which is more thn enough to pull me in. If you haven't already, start "Game of Thrones" ASAP. The seasons are short -- about 10 episodes each -- so it's easy to binge one season in a day.
"Witches of East End"
"Witches of East End" is about three lovely witches who have lived in the human world without their powers for years, far away from their home land in Asgard. And, yes, that's right! Asgard as in Thor and Loki (who are actually in the books and would have been in the show if it hadn't been cancelled. Thanks, Lifetime!)
The show itself may have ended, but it's definitely worth the watch on Netflix if you like supernatural type shows. It's based off of a set of books, but before you turn away, they slightly changed the plot from the books, so that you get hooked into both and keep coming back for more.
"How I Met Your Mother"
Another show that's ended, but "How I Met Your Mother" is one that deserves many, many rewatches. The life lessons viewers learn are ones that can be carried throughout life with us and can even help those who are still trying to figure everything out. Plus, Barney has some pretty awesome quotes throughout the show. This show is one I never get tired of watching.
" The Office"
My last summer pick is "The Office." Yet another show that is off the air (I have a thing for old shows it may seem), but still so noteworthy. I recently started getting into "The Office" when my brother put it on after coming back from class. I had always heard about it from friends or seeing things posted online, but it never caught my attention until recently when some of the topics become relevant to my life. And it makes my list for my must watch this summer.
Everyone, make a list this summer and go forth and binge-watch like it's finals week!
