In honor of the fact that I toured the The Making of Harry Potter Studio in Leavesden this week (and yes, it was probably the best day of my life), here's the study abroad experience told through Harry Potter GIFs.
Not only are you away from home for a semester, you're living in another country for a semester.
Sometimes, you have to walk to and from class in the pouring rain. By the time you make it back to your flat, the shower you took in the morning and any effort you put into pulling yourself together for the day is probably a lost cause at this point.
British boys are cute.
Flights are cheap! Weekend trip to Paris? Don't mind if I do!
Traveling to new places every weekend means you get to try new foods every weekend. Even if that means eating three Belgian waffles in one day. You have to experience the culture, right?
Sitting in class and doing homework seems even more pointless while abroad because, hello?! There's a whole new world to explore out there!
Staying in new hostels every weekend with random people sleeping in the same room as you never gets less weird.
You're with the same people for three months. Sometimes you just need to be alone.
You feel a whole lot like Arthur Weasley trying to understand the muggle world when you're trying to understand the metro system in a different language.
Sometimes trying to get through the airport or train station on time with your heavy hiking backpack feels a lot like this.
You know good and well going into each weekend that you will probably sleep a total of ten hours because you're trying to squeeze as much into a 48-hour weekend trip as you can, but you're okay with it.
Time is somehow going by much faster while you're abroad. Honestly, where is a time turner when you need it?
You probably miss your friends and family back home sometimes, but you know running through the airport at the end of the semester is going to look a whole lot like this.
Ultimately, it's probably some of the best months of your life. I bet you can guess how long you'll cherish the memories.
