Sometimes college campuses are like a whole other world, and we have to be prepared for anything. College students are great at adapting and are full of curiosity, much like world travelers. Not to mention, most of us want to travel the world.

Here are 11 similar characteristics that college students have to travelers.

1. Moving

World travelers move around a lot and so do college students. Students move back home each summer, and they move back to campus for the school year. That is a lot of packing in one year!

2. Global locations

The locations of college students at any given time are far and wide. Some student travel stateside and some are located in other countries for study abroad programs.

3. New places

World travelers often live in new places, and chances are students live somewhere new most years too. They upgrade from the dorms to Greek houses, apartments, or actual houses! It is a new adventure each time.

4. Being prepared

Students are pros at packing the daily essentials. Why do you think our backpacks are so big? They have books, technology, pens, paper, extra clothes, snacks, hats, medicine, supplies, etc. We are prepared for everything!

5. Amateur weathermen

Speaking of being prepared, we probably know the weather forecast for the next hours, day, and week. We have to know whether to pack our umbrellas or look ahead to make our weekend plans!

6. Sleep Anywhere

Have you heard the myth that travelers can sleep anywhere? Students probably have them beat! College students can sleep anywhere and often do. There are many sleeping people on open couches or comfy chairs at the Union or lounges.

7. Comfy clothes

Although there are varying fashion senses, the most common style is comfortable and stylishly simple. Students live in their college apparel sweatshirts.

8. Rewearing outfits

Most students do not mind wearing the same thing two days in a row, especially because of MWF and TR schedules. Travelers are limited and re-wear clothes too. Nobody wants to do laundry every week.

9. Curious

College students like to learn. We are open-minded and informed about the news or other cultures. Like globetrotters, we are curious and want to experience new people, places, and food! We are young and want to try it all.

10. Thrifty

Just like traveling, college activities can add up! Sometimes we are low on funds and have to get thrifty and creative. Even if we are on a budget, at least we know how to have fun.

11. Exploring

Travelers know the best thing to do sometimes is to explore because they will find hidden gems and cool places! College students do the same thing and wander around nearby towns or the top floors or basements of random buildings.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
