We All Struggle...With 8 A.Ms

No matter what class. Having it scheduled at 8a.m. is not the most ideal thing. Weather you are a morning person or not!

Keep Your Friends Close, and Your Enemies Closer.

In college, sleep can be a bitch. There I said it. It plays head games like an old high-school boyfriend. One week will be fine. Waking up at 7a.m, chipper as a non morning person can be, and continuing on with the morning in a decent mood. The next week can be awful. Waking up every hour on the hour for no reason at all. It can test the person that you are in so many ways.

I know I am no the only one that feels this way. Many college students like myself have this schedule semester, after semester. 8a.m.s can be the culprit of this schedule change. Life is rough, so you gotta be tough. Being tough is great and all, but I will be one to admit that it is hard to be awake and functioning at 8a.m. after studying for the 6 previous hours.

Coffee Is Your Go-TO

As cliche as it sounds, it is the truth ya'll. In college, coffee is essential at almost any time of day or night. Like at 4:21 on a Wednesday. Its fine... everything is fine.

I say we implement a rule where there will be a certain number of hours that are judgement free. Between 8a.m. and 10:30a.m, because in college there is no telling what has gone on the night before with that person sitting next to you in class. This is just another reason to be kind to everyone you meet. Guess what! Coffee can help you do that.

Find an Outlet

Coming home and watching Netflix is completely normal, or at least I believe it is. If this is your outlet, then let it ride!!!

Having an outlet while you're taking 8a.m. is something that I strive to find. Granted, having a HEALTHY outlet is better than having a bad one. This is why having a dog in college should be required. It gets you completely out of bed and you get to watch your baby have fun in the sun! Obviously, I am an advocate of this!

Also, find a group of friends that keeps you sane. Having good people around you can boost your mood so quickly. It doesn't matter if its 5 or 2. Dog, or human.

Its gonna be alright.

While all of these things are struggles that most college students deal with and my seem irrelevant, its not easy. Cutting upperclassmen some slack is okay. Dealing with life is not always easy. Finding positives in each day can make your week. Its gonna be alright.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
