I started wearing makeup in the middle of my freshman year of high school. Believe it or not, I started wearing makeup much later than most of my peers. I had no idea what I was doing. I cringe at pictures of me with makeup on sometimes.

Guess what? I'm 19 years old and I STILL don't know what I'm doing. It's pretty obvious. I've gotten better over the years, but...trust me, it's a struggle.

1. The horror you feel looking in the mirror after trying to follow a makeup tutorial.

I love watching YouTube makeup tutorials, but I struggle to recreate the beautiful looks that are supposed to be "effortless."

2. Removing your makeup at least twice before actually doing it right.

I always have makeup wipes at my side because I just KNOW I'm going to make a mistake.

3. Your "fancy" makeup look is basically the same as your everyday makeup look.

For me, adding red lipstick=fancy.

Other people will go all out with sparkly eyeshadow, highlighter, bronzer...why do all that when you can just put on lipstick? Don't tell anyone that I don't know how to do all of that fancy stuff.

4. Wearing the same look every day because you literally have no idea how to do anything else.

If this is all I can do, fine.

5. Buying eyeshadow palettes with instructions and still messing up.

You know those eyeshadow palettes that have step-by-step instructions? Yeah, I can't do those right either. Makeup companies can't make this any easier for me. I'm doomed.

6. Being clueless every time you walk into Sephora.

Seeing all the products and not knowing where to start really brings out the Kim in me.

7. Avoiding certain makeup products completely.

I'm too scared to even try to use bronzer. It would be a nightmare. TRUST ME. I'll stay with being a pale white girl for my whole life, thanks.

8. Getting REALLY excited when someone compliments your makeup.

I feel like I overreact when people tell me they love my makeup. I feel like this on the inside.

Look, Mom, I'm going places!

9. Watching your friends do their makeup in awe.

HOW do you do your eyeliner in literally two seconds? Teach me. Please.

10. Accepting the fact that you may never understand makeup completely but you're still a queen.

The only thing that matters is that I like my makeup. I still look good, so who cares?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
