Being a college student can be both really difficult and really enjoyable at the same time. Studying for midterms or finals, working to pay off bills and rent. Or maybe you are going out with friends to grab a drink and relax for the night, or going on a road trip to visit places you have never been before. Its just one big amazing adventure, a major part in your life regardless if its good or bad. The life of a Christian kind of similar in that way, its both really hard, and yet totally amazing and rewarding at the same time, especially as a guy !
But why? what would make it hard for young men in college who are trying to follow God? Just believe in God and everything will work out, right? kind of, you see beveling in God is great, But for the man who considers himself Christian who believe Jesus is the son of God, and accepts his teachings, then he should live like Jesus and obey his teachings. Which isn't easy, forgiving everyone, turning the other cheek, giving to the needy, loving your neighbor as yourself, loving your enemies !! these are crazy and difficult things even for someone who aren't in college surrounded by people all the time !!
In Romans 12:2 Paul writes " Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
By following Jesus we as young men can be happy because in doing so God will reveal to us what is truly good and acceptable in this life in his eyes, and will totally bless us and help us grow into strong holy men of God like Jesus !!
But that's not all, another one big challenge that Satan uses to snare us up into sin, WOMEN ! Now, don't get me wrong, women do not cause men to sin, men sin. doesn't matter what she does, or wears, or how she even acts, it is on you if you sin, no matter what !! But What Satan does is use the desire to be with someone to take us away from God. In college, we want girl friends, its just a fact. We all want someone who we can be close and intimate with. And there is nothing wrong with that at all, its 100% natural to desire those type of things.
But as 2 Corinthians 6:14 writes " Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"
If she ins't putting God in her life first, she isn't for you bro, sorry. wanna know why? because its gonna be either her or God. and for the Christian, he should put his walk with God first above all things. But imagine being equally yoked with your fellow Christian, both putting God first and growing together as one before God? Sounds pretty sound and strong if you ask me. Its hard to wait on God for that special someone, but If we as young men stand firm in the Lord, then we can have that desire for love and intimacy with him.
Psalm 119: "How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word."
By living it out, just like Jesus our Lord and big bro.
