This April has been filled with tons of good Hip-Hop music with Drake's "Views From The 6" dropping and Beyoncé's "Lemonade." One of the more underrated albums of this April was "Always Strive And Prosper" by A$AP Ferg. This album is filled from front to back with a lot of great verses from Ferg and numerous features that help showcase Ferg's talent and knack for catchy verses.
The single off of the album "New Level" with the king of chart toppers himself, Future, is a certified banger. The hook is so catchy and it could be a club anthem for months to come as well as an inspired pump up song. Besides the hook Ferg's verse is very good and flows extremely well. Future's verse is more of Future but it is still a solid verse by someone with his lyrical tendencies.
My next favorite song on the album has to be one of Ferg's solo tracks called "Psycho." The song talks about his crazy uncle doing crazy things, but it is a metaphor for Ferg and his past parts in his life. According to this song, it seems Ferg is past his young and reckless days of partying and women and is moving to the more sophisticated life of money, women and success. Just like the A$AP Mob's motto, always strive and prosper is what he aspires to do.
My third favorite song on the album has to be "World is Mine" featuring Big Sean. Big Sean is an expert at making slower songs with extremely meaningful verses while being clear with what the meaning is. He brings this very "Dark Sky Paradise" beat to Ferg's album and it flows perfectly. Ferg's slow verse about his lady tells a lot about where he is in his life and what success he is feeling. Big Sean's verse and the hook being "I'm young, man, I've got everything to lose." This powerful verse speaks to the feeling of invincibility that young men feel at times. Sean realizes that this is a false feeling, as anything can happen at any time to take it all away. Overall I would recommend this album to anyone who wants a combination of club bangers and slow songs with meaningful verses.
