Have you ever heard or read something that just really had you thinking about life for a second? Or even the universe? Same. Here they are.

1. The possibility of reincarnation.

I read somewhere a theory on how every person is reincarnated every time they die. The way it was explained is this. Let’s say Sally lives her life to the fullest and then one day is laying in a hospital bed dying. She starts to pass away and sees all of her greatest life moments fly by within the blink of an eye.

Then she sees the bright light and follows it. She then opens her eyes to a hospital room. She realizes that she is no longer in her body but a brand new baby’s body and she is crying. The theory is that every baby comes out crying because it’s the old person’s soul still inside of the newborn scared and missing the life that they had, crying over the memories they just watched.

We then don't ever remember this because real concrete memories aren't really made until you’re about the age of five. By this point, our minds and soul has reset and we have started a new life.

2. What if rocks are actually soft but tense up when we touch them?

Okay really though. Think about it. No one would know if this is true OR false because we only know they’re hard by touching them.

3. You've known your parents for your entire life but they've only known you for part of theirs.

I don't know why but this always makes me think of my mom. She’s always been there to support and love me every step of the way but for nineteen years of her life, she had no idea who I was or that I would even exist. She had a whole other life before I came around. A life that was probably similar to mine before I popped up on the radar.

4. Every year we pass the anniversary of our death.

I know a lot of people get weird about the whole death thing but this does happen. In the future on one of these days, people are going to wake up and miss you. Love everyone in your life. Make a difference. You’ve got one chance.

5. In the simplest form, marriage is literally agreeing to hang out with someone until the day you die.

Kind of cute if you think about it.

6. We don't even know everything about our oceans.

We literally live by miles and miles of deep dark ocean where everything is fair game. Giant squids, mermaids, Atlantis. There could be anything and everything in the deepest parts of oceans but we don't even know because we still don't have the technology to send something down there to find out. Have fun swimming in the deep part of the beach people. Think about what’s below you...deep….deep below you.

7. You are a brain that controls a body.

I right now am an organ inside of a skeleton that controls it. My body is actually a vessel, it’s not me. You can find me, my personality, thoughts, values, beliefs, in a pink wavy organ in the top part of my skeleton.

8. All the money in the world is still paper.

Literally, who came up with the idea of putting a value on a piece of paper. That’s all it is. I am slaving away to pay off tons of debt that is just paper. If I want to buy something, I hand someone A PIECE OF PAPER with A NUMBER written on it and buy the object. For real, who thought of that?

9. Right now your body is covered in millions of crawling bacteria.

Yeah, go get some hand sanitizer. Or take a nice long steaming hot shower.

10. Either we're alone in the universe or we're not.

Either way, it’s weird. There could be different versions of us on different versions of Earth. Aliens could be watching our every move and we have no idea. Or we are literally just it. In an INFINITE universe, we are the only living and functional creatures.

11. Is the "s" or the "c" silent in "scent?"

I don’t even think this needs an explanation. Good luck.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
