The French company Ubisoft is a huge gaming entity that has published games such as the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and the Tom Clancy games. All of these are great games but therein lies a part of the problem because Ubisoft is notorious for peddling out games as fast as possible as seen by the heavy saturation of Assassin’s Creed games from 2007 to present (4 main entries, 15 total). Let that sit for a minute. Now one can ask Akil, why does the mass production of a video game matter? Why should we stop Ubisoft? Well let’s talk about Ubisoft’s first mistake of 2016. Apparently the prehistoric game Far Cry Primal uses the same map as its predecessor Far Cry 4. Which means that consumers paid full price ($60) for Far Cry 4 with a different skin.

We can also bring up Ubisoft’s biggest failure in recent memory with the rather defunct product that was Assassin’s Creed Unity. The game was full of glitches that caused some characters to be floating eyes and teeth instead of having a face. Who’s to say that with Ubisoft’s tendency to speed through the games under its jurisdiction that the next product from them will be half finished? Tom Clancy’s the Division is next up and as an online RPG there is plenty of room for a less than finished product.
On another art related note Ubisoft called out Uncharted 4’s developer Naughty Dog back in February for using art from Assassin’s Creed 4 in the story trailer for Uncharted 4. While this most likely didn’t factor into Uncharted 4’s third delay I choose to blame them for it because I have been looking forward to being blessed by the finale to a great series only to have it ripped from my grasp every time I get closer.
