You know what is super comfortable? Sweatpants and a t-shirt. Add some comfy shoes and that is my ideal outfit. I go to class, go shopping and hang out with friends in that outfit. It’s super comfortable and cozy and I absolutely love it! It’s not that I don’t care about how I look, I just stopped caring about how others look at me.
Don’t get me wrong, I also love wearing a nice fancy outfit like a dress and heels. But, for the day to day outfit, I don’t care how I look. This may confuse some people but that’s ok. I am here to explain.
In today’s society, girls especially, are expected to be perfectly groomed or they won’t be able to find a man or be considered pretty or attractive. If you are not in perfect shape with perfect hair and make-up, you have no place to be in society. I know it’s not that extreme but sometimes to me and possibly to other girls, it may feel that way.
I stopped caring about what other’s thought about me. I stopped letting those comments about how much better my body can be if I were skinnier or how pretty I would be if I started wearing make-up. I want to workout to be fit and healthy. I want to wear make-up when I just feel like it and not to impress anyone.
We look at models and actresses and see how beautiful those women are. We may strive to be like them, but we will never be able to be like them. Sometimes no matter how much make-up you buy or how many times you workout in a week, you will never be like those women you see in today’s society that is perceived as perfect.
That is because you are you. You will never be able to be like anyone else but you. You are beautiful as you; you are perfect for you. You don’t need people or society to tell you if you’re the right size or if you match up with someone else.
You are you, be you.
It took me a long time to realize this. You get told that you are pretty or beautiful when growing up, but still, there’s always that one comment about how you can be prettier if your nose was shaped differently or if you did something nice with your hair. It always makes you second guess yourself. You are you and you are beautiful as you. No exceptions and no excuses.
Every person is beautiful and we shouldn’t let society tell us otherwise. Those models are beautiful. Those actresses are also beautiful. That girl that wears sweatpants every day, she’s beautiful. That girl that has “bushy” eyebrows or a crooked smile, she’s beautiful. We are all beautiful and should start treating each other as such.
