Stop Shaming Women For Wearing Make-Up

They are beautiful and confident, so let them be.

Stop Shaming Women For Wearing Make-Up

The most important thing a woman can obtain is confidence. A woman may be confident in herself after putting together the perfect outfit or after doing her make-up. She even may be confident without make-up or in some casual jeans and sneakers. As long as she is confident, she’s beautiful; untouchable even. Most recently, I scrolled through the Instagram of a make-up artist and noticed how many people were knocking her down, saying, ‘You’re wearing too much make-up,’ or, ‘You would look much better without all of that on your face.’ The thing is, the majority of women who wear make-up do not wear make-up to impress anybody but themselves! Who doesn’t enjoy passing by a mirror and thinking, damn I look good!

Women can do whatever the hell they want to feel more confident and comfortable with themselves. Stop telling them they should lay off the contouring or eyeliner- it’s not your face, it’s their own and they are probably very proud of the way their make-up turned out; don’t knock them down! They were not thinking about you when they were putting on their make-up in the morning, they were thinking about feeling pretty. They feel confident with their make-up and are able to get through their day feeling fantastic and beautiful in their own skin. Who are you to tell them that they over did it or that they should be okay with their natural beauty? No one ever said they weren’t okay with their natural beauty, you implied that just because they do their make-up.

People should also stop telling women that they would look better without all the make-up. They didn’t ask for your opinion and they most likely enjoy doing their make-up every time they decide to do it. They didn’t invest lot of time into beating their face just for you to say they shouldn’t have even bothered. Another thing is, a woman with a face full of make-up is not false advertisement. The odds are, she didn’t put on make-up to trick anyone, and if she did trick you; you’re foolish to believe her cheekbones really shimmer that much and that her eyelids are a natural blue color.

It especially bothers me when I see these comments coming from women themselves. Women should support and empower instead of criticizing and offending one another. Whether a woman chooses to wear make-up or not, that is her choice. If she feels more confident with make-up, then she has every right to wear it, but no one has the right to belittle her for that choice when it is in her best interest.

I’ve also seen a great deal of shaming women who don’t wear make-up. If a woman feels more confident without make-up, then she can work that naked face without anyone telling her she should cover up her blemishes. Stop trying to make people feel uncomfortable with the way the look! A woman is not automatically more beautiful if she chooses not to wear make-up and a woman is not any less beautiful if she does. Stop shaming women for these choices. If they are confident, then they are beautiful and that is the simple truth.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
