Stop telling These 5 Things to people with tattoos, We Don't Want To Hear them

Ah, yes, tattoos.

Some people love them, some people hate them.

A tattoo is a personal choice, as it should be. Yet, the private nature of a tattoo does not- unfortunately- stop everyone you know from giving their two cents.

Whether you ask for other people's opinions or not, you will- undoubtedly- receive their thoughts on your body art.

Here are five things that people need to stop saying to someone with a tattoo:

1. That they don't like the design, color, size, etc.

Giphy

If I asked you ahead of time for your advice on the design, color, or location of the tattoo, that's different.

If I ask you after the fact if you think I should have any changes made to it, that is also different.

Though, if I don't ask for your opinion on what I just got permanently put on my body, then please, do NOT give it.

Telling someone that you don't like his/her tattoo is just flat-out rude and news flash, they didn't get inked for you anyways.

2. "But what about when you grow older? Are you really gonna want that on you when you're 80?"

Giphy

Wait a minute, you mean the tattoo that I just got is still going to be there when I'm 80 years old?

OMG, I wish you had warned me ahead of time!! I totally did not think about that at all.

What on earth would I do without you and your wisdom? *face-palm*

Seriously, the tatted individual to whom you are speaking, made a body-altering decision. We all have to live with the decisions we make, even if they do not involve ink.

Think on that before you clap-back!

3. "But how are you going to get a job with tattoos?"

Giphy

Once again, I already thought of my tattoo's implications.

Please don't doubt my intelligence by treating me like I make decisions without comprehending the ramifications.

Oh, also, if a job doesn't want me because of my tattoos, I don't want the job. *Mic drop*

4. "But what is Grandpa/Aunt Sally/Gregory going to think?"

Giphy

Don't know, don't care.

See how simple that was! Disregard opinions because they will always be varied.

The only person who's opinion matters is mine. Period.

With all the popular, empowerment movements, I am confused as to why "My body, my choice," does not extend to ink. Hey, I am just saying!

5. "I just don't 'believe' in tattoos."

Giphy

That's your right, but there's no point in telling me.

Believe what you want to believe, but understand that your convictions do not apply to me.

Personally, I believe that no one should judge other people's decisions that literally affect no one else...but we can't always have what we want, can we?

So stick to your beliefs, but leave me and mine alone.

Well, that's about it, five things people with tattoos are tired of hearing.

If you want a tattoo, don't fear the peanut gallery.

Your ink and your body so you do you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
