Animals have come to mean a lot in our lives. They are a good escape from all the craziness of life and the world around us. The earth is struggling to maintain itself and the one thing we have to depend on is our pets.

We are told that dogs are man’s best friend so why do some people treat them so poorly. Dogs are always there for you to keep you company, play with and to learn from. If you show a dog or any animal for that matter love, then they will be happy and love you immensely. If you are cruel to them shouting and beating them then they will be afraid of everything and will become vicious because of it.

Recently, there have been stories that have come out about people who have let their dogs out in the freezing cold and having them freeze to death. In one case a pregnant dog was left outside and froze to death. In another someone had let their dog out and left it out in the freezing cold all night. This is cruel to leave your dog or any pet out in the cold for a long duration of time especially in extreme cold or heat. Winter is the coldest time of year you shouldn’t be told not to leave your dog outside for long. Especially during a time where it is unseasonably cold like it has been for most of January for most of the people in the country.

I have heard of some other cruelty towards dogs closer to where I live. When I was a kid there was a park that I would go to, to play soccer on and one of the people that lived close to it had a dog, and every once in a while you would hear the owner shouting out at it, and had heard rumors of them beating the dog too. This is another form of torture towards pets that is hard to witness, if you don’t like that your dog is being restless there are better ways to deal with it that does not include yelling or hurting the dog.

This is a problem that should not really be one because if you want a pet and are responsible and care for it then you should have one, but if you are just going to be cruel to it then what is the point of having it. Either don’t get the pet or if you get tired or can’t stand it anymore then put it up for adoption because there are people out there that would take care and look after it.
