I'm sure if you have been on any sort of social media recently, you have heard of the controversy over Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the National Anthem last NFL season. By his acts, this has started a revolution of multiple players taking their knee during the National Anthem. What really sparked this overload of arguments and opinions being given everywhere, were some of President Trump's latest tweets.
Over the past few days, he has been tweeting more and more on this topic. Some of his tweets have been extremely direct at the people kneeling during our Country's song. He has not held back any aspect of his opinion and it has yet again, caused a divide in our country.
Since the beginning, there has always been something happening where we Americans choose our sides and many outbreaks and issues occur. We aren't growing closer together. We are splitting apart.
What happened to "United We Stand"?
From the beginning, we were focused on a better life for our people. So why are we so focused on our opinions and differences?
What happened to "Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself"?
Why can't we look past the differences and issues and simply stand together? Yes, it is okay to hold an opinion, but we shouldn't hate people for having their own.
I believe what our country needs is to work together and focus on the issues at hand.
Does a famous football player kneeling during our anthem actually affect you? Does it make a difference to your daily life?
I'm guessing your answer is no; however, this can spark a change for the better.
Stop getting caught up in the divide. Stop tearing each other down. Work together to solve our issues.
Instead of hateful conversation on these topics, whether it be abortion, kneeling during our anthem, gay rights, or even our president, make a change.
Do what you can to make our country better.
The real issue isn't how one acts during our anthem, it's the bigger issues they are bringing to light. Whatever your opinion is, what are you doing to bring answers to our problems?
Everybody can create issues, but who is creating solutions?
