Sadly, Stephen Hawking, the brilliant theoretical physicist, passed away on March 14th at age 76.
I've seen a bunch of social media posts honoring Hawking, and the inspiring things he's said over his lifetime.
Here are a few of his most inspirational quotes; because even though he's gone, his impact on the world will never be.
1. "Science is not only a disciple of reason, but also, one of romance and passion."
2. "It would not be much of a universe if it wasn't home to the people we love."
3. "Intelligence is the ability to adapt and change."
4. "However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't give up."
5. "Remember to look up at the stars, not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious."
6. "One of the basic rules of the universe is that nothing is perfect. Perfection simply doesn't exist... Without imperfection, neither you or I would exist."
7. "My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you doing well, and don't regret the things it interferes with. Don't be disabled in spirit, as well as physically."
8. "My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all."
9. "Where there's life, there is hope."
10. "Life would be tragic if it weren't funny."
11. "Quiet people have the loudest minds."
12. "I'm not afraid of death, but I'm in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first."
I think it's safe to say Stephen Hawking contributed some of the most eye-opening thoughts about the universe, and life itself, to this world. He will be truly missed.
